Had it in two weeks ago to hopefully remedy heavy periods.

Appreciate that it needs to be given up to 6 months to be effective but I am bleeding like I've been shot in the uterus!

Just wanted to get a bit of an idea as to what others went through? I'm already on iron from the Dr for period-related anaemia, so this cannot be helping!

(No unbearable pain, just normal cramps, but it's all day every day.)

I'm miserable! 😢

Took about 4 months to calm down for me. I was sick of it by then too OP, felt like it would never calm down.

I think if you keep bleeding heavily I'd see the doctor. This happened to me before during contraception issues and I ended up needing to take meds due to the blood loss.

After 8 months I was still bleeding so I had it removed.

Three months for me, then it settled and I had five years without any bleeding at all. On my fourth mirena now and only get half a day of bleeding at the start of a new mirena each time now.

I had a copper coil, so not exactly the same, but yeah it was a few months. That was the second one. Recurrent BV is also a thing I’m afraid.

Do go back if it doesn’t settle in a few months. My first one basically never settled and I had umpteen tests and scans over about three years, but I never wanted it out as I loved not having hormones. Eventually had it out to ttc and a bit of it had broken off inside me so that’s why I’d had such problems!! Not to scare you just to say don’t just put up with it.

I had another and another because I loved the e fact I didn’t have to do anything or think about contraception. So it didn’t put me off!!

Urgh, have just had a shower and the strings of the iud are far lower than I think they're supposed to be (as in, still internal bit v close to the entrance to my vag)

So I guess that's a bloody doctors appt needed. FFS

I had a series of mirenas for about 20 years. Bit of spotting with the first, then a light period then nothing. Ever. And no Bv or other infections or problems of any sort.
I’d ask the GP @HackedoffAF

3 months but it was light for most of that - just needed a liner.
Periods are very light now 6 months or so on, just use period pants and only remember when I go to the loo and wipe.

Hope you can get the strings sorted
