Any podiatrists around?

DS has complained of pain radiating from under his big toe that radiates the length of his foot. Been complaining about it for a couple of weeks.

I suspect it’s possibly his new work boots so I’m looking at purchasing insoles (along with taking ibuprofen).

Could you recommend the best insole for this type of pain? There’s loads for plantar fasciitis but he’s not struggling with heal pain.

Also if it continues would a GP refer or are we best going to a private clinic (expensive).

GP may refer but it’s a several month wait to be seen in our area. Urgent needs and diabetic foot ulcers for example take priority. Tell him to wear his old boots again for a few weeks and see if it improves.

I’m not a doctor but if he suspects his boots are hurting him then he’s better to change boots rather than get a dr referral?!

I’m guessing it’s the boots that might have started it off, maybe? Although he tells me they’re comfortable and he only needs them one day a week at college. He wears well fitted trainers every day apart from that one day.

Will keep on with the ibuprofen and maybe make an appointment with the private clinic next week.
