How come people with ridiculously noisy cars/motorbikes are always the ones who work unsociable hours?

Every morning some twat from the road next to us starts his motorbike, gives it a few loud revs and roars off to work, waking us at 5.45am and probably everyone else too. That's if his bike starts first time, sometimes we have the joy of listening to him try 4-8 times first. My alarm goes off at 6.45am so that's an hours sleep I'm losing.

Then there's the car with the noisy exhaust who zooms through the village at 1.30am. Clearly both shift workers as their routine is so predictable. Why?? It's so anti social, some people really are so selfish aren't they?

Incidentally my husband is a shift worker and he can leave/return to my bed and house without waking me up, I'm not a light sleeper.

How do you manage noisy people waking you every night? 😴

Good question.

I will also add 'How come the people blasting music out of their car windows in slow-moving traffic always have such shit taste in music?'

Something annoyingly loud but not shit would be far more bearable.

Oh my god this is hilarious 😂 we also have a very noisy "Porsche wanker" as we affectionately refer to him. He sets off at 6.45am every morning for work waking up our toddler 🤣 nobody else on our work has a noisy exhaust, and nobody else works unsociable hours so there must be a strong correlation!!

Yep my neighbour slams his car door EIGHT times and then revs his engine before roaring off at 5.30am every morning. People like that shouldn’t be allowed to live among normal people.

Got one of those next door to me with his souped up mini. It used to be 6.15am but has gradually moved to 6.30am.

It's bad enough when he starts the car and jolts me awake, but then he sits there for what feels like an eternity with the engine idling loudly 🙄

We’ve got a motorbike wanker, who likes early mornings, and a Tesla wanker, who comes home at about 11pm. The Tesla isn’t even particularly noisy, it’s just weird and spooky. The firs time he turned up in it I thought aliens had landed.

PuttingDownRoots · 06/10/2023 15:21

Its probably just more noticeable because of the time.

My next door neighbour sometimes leaves at 5am... the car sounds a lot louder than when she leaves at 10am!

Motorbikespouse · 06/10/2023 15:32

I may possibly be a neighbour of the op. We have the early hours boy racer nearly every night who sounds like he’s doing laps of the village and also the unreliable motorbike just before 6am. If so I apologise on biker dh’s behalf, it annoys me too.

@PyramusandThisbe I was in Tesco car park the other day. This little old man walked to his car. And I mean looked 90’s bent over walked the slowest old.

He took ages to get into his car and then started it. The loudest rock music u have ever heard. I thought oh he has hit the button or something. But nope. He opened his window and He turned it up and off he drove. Like really really loud. Even if he had bad hearing he should have heard it even when it was lower.

Sorry for being one of those selfish people who used a motorcycle to commute to my early start NHS job.

KateyCuckoo · 07/10/2023 14:56

Clearly he works on Saturdays too as today he delighted us with his roaring engine again!

Not sure if your answer is to pull for sympathy but my husband also works for emergency services and manages to leave without waking the whole street.

My neighbour has 3 young children and closer to the twat than me, she must be delighted he's so anti social!

Yeah one lad on our road (I say lad, he's about our age but moved back in with his parents years ago) has a souped up Audi which we call the fart box which he loves to make loud noises when he goes out at 5.30am on a Sunday, the only day we don't need to set an alarm for.

Once I came home and two scantily glad young girls were hovering around his drive waiting for him. He's knocking on 40 Envy

Friends have neighbours with a son who does up motorbikes and outboards. He works on them at night. Have you ever heard the volume of an outboard running in a dustbin filled with water late at night 🙈

@Motorbikespouse

Love your username!

Unfortunately I apologise to my neighbours because at 8.30 am it was dps bike not starting, it's now fixed (no petrol!)

Motorbikespouse · 07/10/2023 18:58

Ah, definitely not dh then, the furthest he’s been today is the back garden.
