Window film

Do any of you use window film to help insulate for the window, and if so, where do you put it? I put some up last year, attaching it to the outside frame so it went over the hinges and handle, but it really didn't look great. Should it just be over the glass? And do you spray with water before putting it up?

Another suggestion for applying window film is to ensure the surface is clean and free of any dust or debris before installation. You can use a mild solution of water and vinegar to clean the glass thoroughly.

Yes just put it on the glass, and if it's not a self adhesive one then water on window pane does help it stick

Window film can be a great solution for insulation, providing benefits like UV protection and improved energy efficiency. When applying the film, it's best to focus on covering just the glass to maintain a clean look and avoid obstructing the window's functionality.
Using a spray bottle to apply a mixture of water and a few drops of dish soap can help with the installation process, as it allows you to reposition the film before it fully adheres.
