Bravecto for Yorkie - any vets?

Hi, my Yorkie has been scratching and we found a few fleas, have since used Frontline Plus but this hasn't worked.

We have an appointment tomorrow at our vets and she talked about prescribing Bravecto.

Is this a risk for small dogs? There was a lot of hysteria online about the side effects but this all seems to be a few years back now.

Has anyone had recent experience of using or prescribing Bravecto, especially for small dogs?

Thanks.

Hi, @Yorkieemum - we've now moved this over to Chat, as requested. We hope that helps and your DD (darling dog) is feeling better soon. 🐶

My 3kg yorkie has had it for years with no issues. X

I’m a vet and have used it (at the right dose!) for my own small dogs (< 4kg) for years. Most of the online hysteria is exactly that. It’s a safe, tested drug. Obviously any drug can occasionally cause a reaction, but I have literally never seen a drug reaction from Bravecto.

That's good to know thanks, my little chubster is 5.5kg so should be ok.

Thanks for that, it sounds like scaremongering doesn't it.

He has only the odd tiny flea but the buggers are giving him a little bite here and there so he is scratching a lot. He's got a couple of scabs were they must have broken the skin.

We put the torch on him several times a day and check thoroughly, can't see any eggs, can't see many fleas.

It's literally been around 4 baby ones found in the last 2 days.

We've bought Virbac Indorex spray to try aswell over the weekend.

I feel a lot more reassured now😊
