What’s your go to for a hangover

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 06/10/2023 07:22

After several (far) too many glasses of wine last night out at dinner I now have a cracking hangover.

My go to in the U.K. has always been a mcds breakfast and a full fat Coke but now I live somewhere where they only do egg McMuffins, no sausage or hash browns. So I need to fend for myself! Fucking ridiculous

Cant get anything delivered because they can never find the damn house so give up and fuck off so I need to go to the shop 🫠.

Before anyone suggests a sausage sandwich, I live in Denmark. Sausages SUCK 💔

Danish bacon?
unlimited buttery toast/crumpets
chip sandwich

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 06/10/2023 07:46

Oh I miss crumpets!

Unlimited toast sounds fucking fantastic though!

Can you get a decent bacon sandwich?

StowOnTheWold · 06/10/2023 07:49

Hair of the dog.

Bobbybobbins · 06/10/2023 07:51

Tea
Coke (the drink)
Toast
Crisps

MissingMoominMamma · 06/10/2023 07:52

A BIG glass of water with one of those fizzy vit C tablets in it.

ghostbusters · 06/10/2023 07:53

Salt and vinegar crisps.
Fanta orange.
Haribo.
Sometimes an orange/ satsuma which help refresh my manky stale wine tongue.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 06/10/2023 07:53

A nap then a glass of red

Lemonademoney · 06/10/2023 07:54

Marmite on crumpets and something fizzy and acidic like Fanta or coke. I always crave salt and sugar

AgnesX · 06/10/2023 07:57

Bacon butties with loads of butter and sauce of choice.

Crisps (crisp butties with butter) and loads of Coke.

Sleep!

Hot milk with honey and nutmeg, and paracetamol (Tylenol), a hot shower, then back to bed

I'd avoid all the fatty stuff advised above, frankly, it'll just make you feel worse.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 06/10/2023 08:05

Sadly can’t go back to bed. I have to go to ikea (fucking ikea!)

We don’t get crumpets here or they would be top of my list but toast crips and coke sounds immense!

@Bobbybobbins thank you so much for specifying, I was just drawing a line for myself before that 😁😉

Aspirin, shower, toast, orange juice.

Wine 🍷

Purplerain0505 · 06/10/2023 08:07

Hot shower, indigestion tablet, paracetamol, big glass of water with a vitamin c tablet, a banana, toast with marmite and something small and sugary.

And next time you drink wine try taking an antihistamine before bed. I find it takes the edge off the next day.

2chocolateoranges · 06/10/2023 08:10

2 paracetamol, glass of irn bru and toast and runny poached eggs?

Poontangle · 06/10/2023 08:11

Fresh pineapple, tiger balm on the temples, cashmere co-ord, whimpering.

GreenhouseGarden · 06/10/2023 08:13

Half a pint of milk followed by half a pint of orange juice. If you can keep that down you’ll be fine with ibuprofen and a walk in the fresh air. Otherwise you’ll vom and feel better afterward (plus ibuprofen and walk).

Rosecoffeecup · 06/10/2023 08:15

The real cure is the hangover poo

myjohnnywasasaint · 06/10/2023 08:18

Rehydration tablet in a pint of water.
Huge sweet coffee
Myrkl vitamin tablets
Cheese toastie
Kettle chips

OhYetAnotherBrickInTheWall · 06/10/2023 08:18

Hot, sweet tea in bed.
Clean teeth. Many times. Tongue too.
Shower and wash hair.
Nice body lotion, blow dry hair quickly and put it up.
Comfy clothes.
Toast and marmite. Lots and lots.
More tea but no more sugar
Paracetamol, rehydration sachet, fizzy vitamin C.

But the main thing would be DON’T GO TO IKEA! 😱😱😱

TulipTuesday · 06/10/2023 08:29

I’m about to start work with a hangover after making the same mistake with wine last night so sympathies op.

I’m currently eating a co-op ready done sausage and egg muffin and downing orange juice. Regretting not also buying coke for later.

The muffin is gross mind.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 06/10/2023 10:36

I decided the sensible thing to do was a hot shower, contemplate my life choices, ate a Mars bar (which are revolting btw, weird one texture thing 😂) and am going to ikea where I will eat my weight in meatballs and chips. Buy the 3 things I need, come hope and spend the rest of the day infront of the sofa and will eat Thai food.

The best way to avoid a hangover is to stop drinking!

That said, before I quit I found that fresh air perked me up. Just forced myself to get the shoes on and get out for a short walk. Then a good meal and some rest. The only thing that really cures a hangover is time.

Brefugee · 06/10/2023 11:24

ah that old question
"what's the best thing for a hangover?"

"a lot of drinking the night before!" boom boom (I'm here all week, folk!)

TBH it is ye olde fulle Englishe Breakfaste for me.
