I've never found them funny. It's not my thing. Saying that, there's a guy who has appeared recently and I keep seeing him on FB and Insta. His name is Jack Skipper. I find him quite funny to be fair.

Verv · 06/10/2023 16:55

Frankie Boyle, Lee Evans. Cant stand either of them.

Scifiiscompletebollocks · 06/10/2023 16:56

Stewart Lee, Frankie Boyle, Rosie Jones.

Scifiiscompletebollocks · 06/10/2023 16:59

Yeah and Eddie Izzard.

Ohyoudodoyou · 06/10/2023 16:59

So it appears that Frankie Boyle
Is up for the award of Mumsnet's least favourite 'funny man' - he can have this as his Twitter caption.

He is funny.

TheFormidableMrsC · 06/10/2023 17:19

@SpicedAppleAndFreshCider He really is. I particularly like the babysitter 🤣

notacooldad · 06/10/2023 17:50

Josh wittingham or whatever his name is
Why be so dismissive of someone. Just Google his name if you are not sure. You wont sound so daft.
And the worst... Ed Gamble. Hes a vile human.
What on earth has he do e that's so bad?

RampantIvy · 06/10/2023 17:57

CurlewKate · 06/10/2023 15:25

I do wish people wouldn't pretend not to know the names of the comedians they've watched enough to know they don't like. Very tedious!

Yes, they could just google them.

Butterkist8 · 06/10/2023 18:14

Ben Elton.

Yes I know that he wrote some very splendid stuff but his stand up was shouty shitey.

Lenny Henry... he needs to get over it.

Katherine Ryan ... never tittered at her .

Alan Carr... ?

Sarah Millican.

Phil Jupitus

Michael McIntyre

Agree Eddie Izzard, used to like him very much for his scatty humour but he just seems sad and unfunny now.

I never liked Ken Dodd on the TV but was persuaded to see him live once. It was a revelation. Surreal and hilarious. He certainly gave good value, his shows would overrun massively as he just kept going on and on!

Victoria Wood, bless her she was amazing. I can recommend the recent biography. She was so talented but also a tremendous perfectionist. She worked hard at hercraft.

Kenny Everett RIP such a funny man. He would never get shown now I suppose.

Back to who I dislike, Miranda has been mentioned a few times...cringeworthy sums it up.

Not sure what channel but I don't have any subscription ones - were showing Kenny Everett shows back to back and he was still really funny.
Another vote for Dave Allen and also liked Dick Emery, Tommy Cooper, Victoria Wood, Ruby Wax and many more I can't think of now.

BabyFireflyx · 06/10/2023 19:39

@SammyScrounge I know, I love him. I was asking another poster how they don’t find him funny.

Liz Truss
Kwasi Kwarteng

Brilliant 🤩 MN at its old school finest Grin

TheShellBeach · 07/10/2023 17:07

CallieQ · 06/10/2023 00:26

They are the only two mentioned on this thread who are funny

They're embarrassingly unfunny.
I cringe when I watch old clips of them - it's unbearable.

Moldywarpedalright · 07/10/2023 17:56

AbraKedavra · 06/10/2023 04:18

Can you actually name 2 funny female comedians?

Holly Hudson
and
Sindhu Vee

enchantedsquirrelwood · 07/10/2023 17:57

Pretty well all of them really, and I often/usually find "comedy" excruciatingly embarrassing. Or very unfunny. Or both.

Although Would I lie to you is very funny at times, and I also like some of Michael Mcintyre's sketches (especially the herb/spice cupboard one, very well observed).

SerendipityJane · 07/10/2023 18:00

Caroline Quentin was a member of the Comedy Store Players in the 80s & 90s (how she met Paul Merton).

Attendees at the original Comedy Store in Leicester Square will recall the artists had to share toilets with the audience.

Well Stewart Lee would make it a strapline on his next tour:

"Stewart Lee: Who is this cunt ?"
"An eskimo faced cunt from the 80s"
"Terry Christian has let himself go..."

Notice how MN gets a shout at 3:40...

DinaofCloud9 · 07/10/2023 18:23

Frankie Boyle
Rosie Jones
Katherine Ryan
Michael McIntyre
Sara Pascoe
Alan Carr

I do like Jimmy Carr though.

dressedforcomfort · 07/10/2023 20:41

Presumably I don't need to say Russell Brand

Jimmy Carr
Alan Carr
David Walliams

Octosaurus · 07/10/2023 20:42

The office. I like Ricky gervais as a comedian but that show is absolutely shit to me I don't get why everyone loves it

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 07/10/2023 20:44

Almost all of them. I like lots of comedy actors and films, but I generally don't like stand-up. I find it uncomfortable to watch, even when it's funny.

LemonRedwood · 07/10/2023 20:49

Agree with quite a few who have already been mentioned, but I can't believe no one else has said Lou Sanders.

I surely can't be the only one who finds her entirely unfunny?

I used to work for someone who was exactly like Ricky Gervais's character, so it struck a chord with me.

SparkyBlue · 07/10/2023 21:06

@RampantIvy same. We used to all be in knots laughing at work the morning after it was on telly.
