Has anyone ever used a local restaurant to cater your wedding?

Find a lot of wedding menus a bit sad and the same. Our local Indian restaurant is delicious and I’d love them to cater our wedding. Does it work? Has anyone used a local restaurant instead?

Just to be clear - I don’t mean hold the wedding in a restaurant. I mean they bring all their delicious food to your venue

What could you lose by asking them?!

Sounds like a lovely idea.

Where I grew up, near Leicester, people certainly sometimes had wedding food partly from local restaurants, but it wasn't exactly getting the restaurant to cater - it'd be more, someone would use their contacts and sort it all out ad hoc. It was lovely but someone would still need to organise the actual serving/co-ordination of massive amounts of food. If the restaurant doesn't routinely cater events, they may not have the staff/facilities to do more than provide you with the food, and you do need someone who will take charge of sorting out how it then gets to tables in an orderly/decorative fashion!

You'd need to ask a specific restaurant as there won't be any kind of standard answer but absolutely no reason not too ask

Hi we got married May 2022, we had to choose someone our venue had connections with and was their supplier. So it very much depends on that to be honest. If you speak to your venue they will be able to advise first and then take it from there. Our venue was in Staffordshire so unsure on your location. I hope this helps slightly.
