Food shop delivery - substitution Q

You do a shop for delivery and order item 1 (£5.25). They don’t have it so send item 2 instead. What price should you pay?

£3.85

Did they send one or two (quantity wise)? Normally I get 2 smaller items instead of the larger one

£5.25.

If I order something and they sub it I pay the original price. If the sub costs more, I pay the price of the originally ordered product. If the sub costs less I get a refund of the difference.

You ordered one thing for £5.25. If they'd send one sub at £3.85 then that is what you should have paid (refund the £1.40 diff) but they sent two so you pay the price of the originally ordered item.

allhellcantstopusnow · 05/10/2023 13:30

Oh I thought you received two of the things labelled two 🙄

In that case, £3.85, as per the above.

fedupandstuck · 05/10/2023 13:31

Assuming the substitute was just one tin, then £3.85. They shouldn't be charging you £5.25 for an item you didn't receive.

Inyourwildestdreams · 05/10/2023 14:53

Thanks all 😅 Definitely only sent one of the smaller tins but have been charged £5.25. When I queried it I have been told that promotional prices don’t apply to substitutions and since the original price is £6, I have saved 75p 😅

You can return any sub

Kissmas · 05/10/2023 14:56

That's Asda. So just ask for a refund online

fedupandstuck · 05/10/2023 15:02

There's something up with their supposed standard pricing there then. The smaller sized item is normally £6 and the larger size is normally £5.25? Sounds wrong to me. I'd query it on that grounds.

AdoraBell · 05/10/2023 15:04

Either £3.85 or reject the one they send.

Why on earth don't their promotional prices apply to subs?

I would have rejected it.

I had guests arriving today and needed their coffee so didn’t refuse it 😅 I have queried it with Asda though! Seems ridiculous to have to pay more 😳
