Or can you arrive on the day and take your chances of scoring a ticket?

I looked and it seemed to be sold out until January..

Duolily · 05/10/2023 07:59

Yeah I think it’s totally sold out? Maybe more tickets will open up in future though

wheresmyshoe · 05/10/2023 08:00

It's sold out, members can still go without needing to book or buy a ticket. I would give them a call to enquire about the chances of picking up a ticket on the day.

Thank you. I might look in to how much it costs to be a member!

If you are a member you can turn up otherwise it’s sold out o

GunboatDiplomacy · 05/10/2023 08:09

Blimey, I was vaguely considering going but it looks as if they've decided against doing any "on the day" tickets and are hoping to sell a shedload of memberships (77 quid) to satisfy demand.
I can't really blame them, times are tough for museums at the moment so you need to optimise the income from your big hits.

Britpopbaby · 05/10/2023 08:11

Ooh it’s £77 for a year. How much would the exhibition cost if I were to buy the ticket? I might be able to get my monies worth if I were to get the membership.

GunboatDiplomacy · 05/10/2023 08:14

The cheapest way to go is to find a young person (under 26) who also wants to go and split the cost of a young person + guest membership - 85 quid.

Or another old person and split a 112 standard + guest membership.

Plexie · 05/10/2023 08:18

Did you not look at the exhibition ticket price when you looked up the price of membership?

Britpopbaby · 05/10/2023 08:22

@Plexie I don’t live in London and am thinking of going down on a bit of a whim hence asking now.

You can't look at the price of the exhibition tickets on the website because they're not on sale, but they'd probably be around twenty quid for an adult.

Plexie · 05/10/2023 08:36

Thanks @GunboatDiplomacy, hadn't realised that.

Ticket was £24 I think.

mondaytosunday · 05/10/2023 08:41

I went to the Christian Dior one as a member and still had to queue for an hour as they only let limited amount of people in at a time. It was jammed. Good for celebrity spotting though! Saw two I instantly recognised (though my teens didn't). Don't ask me who can't remember now.

Rocknrollstar · 05/10/2023 08:53

I’d keep an eye on the website as they will either extend the exhibition or have some late evening openings. It’s been sold out for weeks. We had tickets for the Dior and still had to queue. You usually only get your monies worth on membership if you go to three exhibitions in the year.

LizziesTwin · 11/10/2023 21:29

I think tickets were only £16

BIossomtoes · 11/10/2023 22:13

I bought membership because the chance of getting a ticket was zilch. I’ve already been once with a friend and plan to go at least twice more. It’s amazing.

The tickets for Chanel were £24.

Goodornot · 12/10/2023 10:12

£24 for a ticket. You could buy £77 membership and go twice. That would nearly pay for itself.
You could also come to any other V&A exhibition. Depends how far you are from London as to whether that would be feasible or not.

Exactly. I paid £110 for membership + a guest. Three visits with different friends and I’m in profit.
