Ive just had to switch Jimmy Fallon off because she talks like shes from the royal family. Did she talk like that when she was Ginger Spice from Watford? Do any of her mates pull her up on it I wonder?

Christian Horner is seriously hot. That's all I have to add.

He really isn’t.

OrlandointheWilderness · 05/10/2023 16:07

Wow people really are bitchy. Fair enough to judge someone on questionable mprals, but "Ginge"?! Ffs. Is that really still seen as acceptable?!
I sound posh. I'm not, I just have a very neutral accent. Massive reverse snobbery ever present on MN.

Daffodilwoman · 05/10/2023 16:12

She didn’t steal anyone. He chose to have an affair with her. I also think he looks his age.

All in white just like God 😂

😂😂😂😂😂

IncompleteSenten · 05/10/2023 16:21

I think she probably hammed it up a bit when she was in the spice girls and she's made a few changes the other way in later years too.

I agree with this. Married man has an affair - and leaves wifey for affair partner, but affair partner gets the blame. So typical. Hmm You cannot STEAL someone. Not if they don't want to be stolen!!!

Also, Christian Horner is not seriously HOT, (as a previous poster said,) he is average at best ... And I disagree that he looks his age @Daffodilwoman - I think he looks older. He is 49, but looks mid 50s to me!

Donna AIr is my favourite affected accent😂

Mine too. If you ever watch old episodes of Byker Grove compared to how she speaks now 🤣🤣🤣

She reinvented herself to become suitable for her current husband who cheated on his pregnant wife with her

Yes, revolting. I think it's such lowlife behaviour when somebody is pregnant. I lost all respect for her when that came out.

PumpkiPie · 05/10/2023 17:00

I had a spice girls video when I was a kid in the 90s and she talked the same then as she does now. She always sounded articulate and pronounced imo.

IncognitoMam · 05/10/2023 17:38

Just watched a clip of Donna Air 😳 Think her and Robson Green have the same affliction 😂

Same here - ‘posh’ comments really did my head in where I grew up.

That said, I am not a fan of Geri (OR Christian Horner). I thought them getting together when they did was pretty low but I mainly dislike them because they are both incredibly annoying.

Riverlee · 05/10/2023 17:56

To be honest, the whole situation did neither of them any favours, and Christians parents weren’t happy either as they didn’t attend the wedding.

Tinklyheadtilt · 05/10/2023 18:00

Nope. She knew he was married, she is also culpable.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 29/02/2024 17:40

Yea she probably has but so what! She's brilliant, The Spice Girls would have been nothing without her personality and 'girl power' was all her. Mel C's singing and Geri's spark and sass changed really things for young women and I loved it! The other 3 were just making up the numbers.

Er, I think that’s unfair on the others and a bit revisionist. There was no ‘star’ just five different but equal personalities, that’s what they said themselves. Though maybe Geri left as she ultimately didn’t like that.

I didn't say there was a star, I was pointing out there were 2 genuinely talented members and yes 5 'personalities'.

anothernamitynamenamechange · 01/03/2024 08:38

I know the conversation has moved on a bit but I have a problem where if I am around Americans my accent changes and becomes more ''English'' I am English, I speak with a normal English accent most of the time. I don't know why it becomes a parody of an English accent when around Americans but it the more I think about it the posher it becomes. I know that probably isn't Gerri's problem - but it might not be completely deliberate on her part.

Justleaveitblankthen · 04/10/2023 23:43

She's spoken about her mum getting her elocution lessons when she was young.

Living very close to Liverpool, it always amuses me to hear Mel C speak because-to me-it sounds as though she tries hard to suppress any Scouse vowels that may sneak through. It sounds unnatural.

The Beatles all had a naturally 'soft Scouse' accent that they never lost, even though they have lived elsewhere for longer than they ever did in the city.

Mel C grew up in a town in Cheshire (close to Liverpool) so I think her accent might also be impacted by that. I know because I was friends with her at school. 😊

Kenthighst · 01/03/2024 08:49

@loopyrings oooh what was she like? Was she musical in school?

She is from a council estate in Watford. She is trying to rebrand herself as posh, but the fact she stole her husband from a pregnant woman shows who she is really is.

100 per cent. Nothing remotely classy about that is there x

'Girl power' was nothing to do with any of the SG, it was a well marketed manufactured piece of bullshit.

BA2 · 01/03/2024 09:53

I don’t think she sounds ridiculously posh, just standard RP like most Southern English.

Glittertwins · 01/03/2024 14:12

Go back a few seasons when she was on Top Gear. About as far removed from RP / plummy voice as can be!

LlynTegid · 01/03/2024 15:44

@PTSDBarbiegirl if you think Geri Halliwell as she was then known had talent, you have a different dictionary than I do. Melanie Chisholm the musical talent, Emma Bunton some, Victoria Beckham as a fashion designer, and Melanie Brown deservedly honoured for her campaigning against domestic abuse and violence.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 02/03/2024 17:55

@LlynTegid shit singer, her talent was being a brilliant front person, as I said.
