Helping Step son with his homework had really brought home how thick I am

So, I never did very well in school. Never at the bottom but usually sitting around the middle. Roll on now to my 43rd year of life and I've just had it confirmed that I'm actually thick as mince 😆 all this maths and English is harder than I remembered.

Maybe I'm just out of wack as my own baby is still, well, only a baby so homework is new to me.

I was actually thinking of going back to resit my gcse maths and English but I actually don't think I could do it

Give yourself some slack! You have just had a baby, your brain will be prioritising that right now. I'm sure you would be fine studying again once you're through the early days.

Also, the stuff they teach these days is (a) different, and (b) taught differently.

I have three degrees and a professional career, and struggle helping my own children with things that I have studied at postgrad level!

They are also trying to learn to pass the exam. Knowing French vocabulary that isn’t part of their core learning may be good for their souls, but it won’t help them get a GCSE.

I think it’s more than you haven’t been in school for 25 years OP. If you were middle of the class you can’t be thick.
