Why has DS started making jelly regularly?

He's 22, I suppose if he wants jelly he can have it but why is there always a bowl of jelly in my fridge all of a sudden?

Vodka must be the obvious answer, but he barely drinks and as far as I can tell the jelly isn't alcoholic.

He says he just remembered he likes jelly 😆 Which is plausible but I feel like I'm missing something. Generally heating a pizza is the extent of his catering inclination.

My kids go through periods where they'll suddenly ask for random childhood snacks, like fish and chip crackers, rice pudding, jelly, custard etc.

Broop · 04/10/2023 19:28

That’s a different type of jelly! Smuckers grape jelly is a (cheap and horrible) jam, more like a gel consistency.

Raincloudsonasunnyday · 04/10/2023 19:30

What flavour jelly? This is a crucial detail.

Softnatural · 04/10/2023 20:34

So I've been convinced he's vaping because his room smells of strawberry flavour something but maybe it's not that? 😆

Mothers of sons who have started making jelly DO NOT look that urban site up..😂

NotFastButFurious · 04/10/2023 20:55

It’s the sugar free stuff and whatever they put in it instead of sugar, it’s like crack cocaine for additiveness!

I go through phases of wanting certain foods constantly, and then never again for months or even longer.

Me and DP are drinking ridiculous amounts of hot chocolate currently, but haven't had it since Christmas before this week.

Is your son the one that you found his vape and then some strawberry scented gel/liquid in an unmarked tube?

Every five years or so I remember I love Angel Delight and make bowls of it constantly for a few weeks 🤣

Gummybear75 · 05/10/2023 08:20

I often find a food I like and eat it on repeat, then one day just don't eat it again for years (or ever)
Not sure what your sons intention with the jelly is, have you witnessed him eating him? Bowls of evidence in the sink?
However it's really common for people to go through phases with these kinds of foods for a few weeks. I wouldn't automatically assume its weird 🤣

Deathraystare · 05/10/2023 09:54

My reason for going through a jelly phase years ago was when I found out at last I could get jelly without gelatine in it (vegetarian). I went mad for the stuff for a while. I doubt that is your son's excuse though but it was mine.

Esgaroth · 05/10/2023 10:10

On MN if anyone asks about almost any benign behaviour in their teenage or young adult son, loads of people come and say it's to do with wanking.

He just likes jelly. He'll get bored of it in a bit.

ShadowsontheHill · 05/10/2023 10:11

I’m became obsessed with jelly whenever I was pregnant.

Home made edibles ?

You can smell the marijuana in edibles. OP would know if there was weed-laced jelly in her fridge.
