Ablation, breastfeeding

I'm wondering now I'm done having kids if my options for dealing with a lifetime of horrendously heavy periods will have changed. Previously I've had tranexamic acid, mefanamic acid, the mirena coil. My first period following DC1 left me hospitalised after I collapsed from blood loss. I'm now breastfeeding DC2. Would I have to wait for my periods to return before I can seek treatment? And now I'm done having kids would ablation be a good option?

I don't know about the breastfeeding, sorry.

But I had an ablation about 10 years ago after trying everything else to deal with horrendously heavy periods, and I haven't had a period since. Not one.

Life changing!

That would be amazing! Did you have to battle to get one? It's never been mentioned as a possibility to me over various gynaecologist appointments.

Not really battle, but I had been given the meds without success in the past and then the GP encouraged me to try the Mirena first. I took it back to her (cleaned and wrapped up!) 6 weeks after it was inserted... it had been expelled in a huge clot! She referred me straight away after that
