Any ideas what creature is responsible for this? A fox with the runs???

Bloody disgusting and I can't even pick it up as it's so sloppy! Any ideas how to prevent it from happening, one was left on the back door step the other day and of course I bloody trod in it 🤢🤮

Pigeons

steveandmaggie · 04/10/2023 08:09

Unless it's a monster Godzilla pigeon, there is no way a bird is responsible. It's about the size of my fist!

My cats poo looks a bit like this if they have an upset stomach.

PlatinumBrunette · 04/10/2023 08:13

Goose or duck - I had similar on my car 🤢 Great shot as they must have done it flying over!

steveandmaggie · 04/10/2023 08:14

I thought cats preferred to poo on grass/soil?
Ugh, every morning I come down to another 'present'.

There must be a big target on my house then and excellent goose intel as it's becoming more frequent!

Fox

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/10/2023 08:16

It looks like bird rather than mammal poo, but if it's as big as you say then I guess that's unlikely.

Dogfureverywhere · 04/10/2023 08:17

Looks like a cat with the trots!
Fox poo tends to be very dark and smelly
Hedgehog poo is small and dark
Squirrel poo has a lot of blackberry seeds in it atm 🤢

I get a lot of 💩 in my garden!

Killingmytime · 04/10/2023 08:18

Second pic def looks like bird shit

Poontangle · 04/10/2023 08:21

It's cat shit. If you had geese in your garden a) you would know about it, and b) there'd be a lot more shit.

I see a lot of goose poo and I totally agree - not geese

muddyford · 04/10/2023 08:25

Cat. Lots of it on the grass verges round here. Fox is darker and they finish it off with an upward facing curly bit.

Bemyclementine · 04/10/2023 08:25

1st looks like runny cat poo, second is bird poo

cheezncrackers · 04/10/2023 08:27

How does it smell OP? Bird poo doesn't smell too bad, but cat or fox absolutely stinks and is usually very dark in colour - almost black.

Idrankyourbananamilk · 04/10/2023 08:30

Our neighbours cat occasionally goes through stages of shitting on our gravel driveway and it looks like this. A combination of tiger balm in a spray gun (on the gravel not the cat!) and our cat (who is an angry little monster) being allowed to bully him out of the garden seems to prevent it too often.

Theforeverhome · 04/10/2023 08:38

If that’s standard size decking, I’d be inclined to say it’s not cat, but could easily be fox with an upset stomach as they do appear to like to mark with their poo, or hedgehog as they can do remarkably large squits for such a little creature as my patio will attest.

steveandmaggie · 04/10/2023 09:11

It's def not bird, far too large. I can't smell atm as have horrendous cold, thankfully!

We do get foxes in the garden so know what a normal fox poo looks like, just bemused as to why whatever it is has decided to do it on the decking, very unsociable!
