Mini pill bleeding

Hi posting here for traffic . DD (15) has horrendous periods - often every 2 weeks , one a month of which is very heavy and last month caused such bad pain she was vomiting. Is Anaemic as a result. She has tranexamic acid. We have avoided the pill as I’ve had breast cancer. However she has her GCSEs this year and it’s become apparent she won’t be able to sit an exam on a day she starts her period so we saw the GP ten days ago.

Shes been put on degesterel but it’s made her emotional and worst of all she now has a very very heavy period with pain. She is up with pain now.

I am going to email the GP in the morning and ask for a switch to the combined pill as I really don’t think the mini pill is going to work as she just needs the bleeding to stop.

Has anyone had this bleeding and the mini pill has worked out?

she would aim to try the combined pill until the summer to get through her GCSEs.

My cancer was not hormonal and a recent test has shown I have none of the genes associated with bc .

I was wondering what other people’s experiences with the mini pill were and how quickly they had been able to switch the the combined pill? Also, if the GP won’t prescribe I’m thinking of finding a private GP?

DD is insisting she will stop taking the mini pill now. Poor love I feel for her so much.

Hello! Before my baby I had awful bleeding and the combined pill didn’t help! I switched to mini pill and after 6 months of light spotting and heavy bleeding irregularly on the mini pill my periods were gone! Defo give it a go if you can for 5 months. They say it will calm down in 6 months.

I started a thread a few days ago about a similar issue op (sorry, I don’t know how to link to it).
Basically, like myself, a lot of women report the generic version of Desogestrel mini pill just makes them bleed constantly.
The branded version ‘Cerazette’ (also a mini pill) is so much better and many, many women report that bleeding completely stops on this pill.
There is no rhyme or reason as apparently the ingredients are the same - I had a heated discussion with my GP about this - but honestly it’s like a completely different pill.
Have a search for threads about it on here - or maybe search my username to find my recent thread.
HTH.
