Laminator jargon help?

Mumof118 · 03/10/2023 18:55

My laminator says it can go up to 100mic

But then it has on the front 2x100mic

I have 150mic pouches

I can’t believe I’m stressing over a laminator, but what does all of this mean!??

Thank you in advance!

'mic' means microns, the measure of thickness.

The 2 x 100 mic means a laminator pocket with two sheets of 100 microns thick.

If you have 150 micron pockets, they are probably 2 x 75 micron. They'll feel flimsy. If they were 2 x 150, you'd be able to use them to create the sound of thunder.

Use the cardboard pocket to protect them if there's one in the packet and don't try and put something really important through at the highest temperature and speed without that, as that way lies disaster.

Oh, by the way, if you ever have the chance and you need to put things up for signage, use Matt pockets - the glossy ones make signs impossible to read with artificial light bouncing off them.

Thank you so much! I’ve been Googling for ages and just wasn’t getting it 😂

Right, I feel confident to use my new laminator now. 💜
