Escape to the Country - Mumsnet Special

Which county would we be visiting?
What draws/drew you to this area?
Maybe you already live in your preferred location - has it been a dream come true or are you itching to return to your previous address?
I wonder if we have any mumsnetters who have actually appeared on the show?!
Would you like to be properly rural, or prefer to be more community based?

I am a self confessed city girl at heart so I’m going to have a think about this one.
Maybe those of you who are in your dream locations can inspire and convert me.

(Disclaimer - this is just for fun. I’m very happy where I am!)

I would choose Devon a place I have had lovely holidays there but I would choose North Devon Appledore/Instow area but can be pricey but that's no problem I can go easily up to half a million or more (I wish)
I don't want modern but neither do I want a black and white cottage all beams and thatch. I want something that is a bit unusual and nice to look at with sea views and a private landscaped garden at the rear. a terrace outside the bedroom to sit and look at the sea would be wonderful.
diner kitchen large spacious lounge with sea views again and a good-sized terrace with a dining room at the rear would be excellent with French windows leading into the garden. oh and 4 bedrooms so I could change around when I get fed up with being in one place and each en suite.
I can imagine the wild one being a black and white cottage that I fell in love with! The other two would be a box-shaped glass de luxe property which would be a property seller's dream but I would hate all the glass, bedrooms too small, and gardens poky. The second house would be a rattling great mansion-type house with lots of floors rooms sea views and bags of potential but I would hate it as too much work for me!

@Beargrumps22 I live in Appledore and sadly £500k wouldn't get you that list. It would be £800k plus to be fair.

But it is an awesome place to live! I drink my morning coffee looking at the boats and thinking how amazing it is.

I'd head to the Lake District. DH and I have been going there since we first met and even though we completed the Wainwrights some years ago, there'll be plenty more walks to be had.

I imagine they'd show me a cottage, maybe a village centred house. I'd be happy with an apartment within a big house with views of a lake.

I'm already escaped!

My criteria if we moved though would be big kitchen with seating area, home office with good internet, master with ensuite and at least 2 double bedrooms (though dc would not be moving with us, they are already 20 somethingsGrin) then need double ideally triple garage/outbuildings. But not too much land, I kill plants and hate mowing. A minimum of 2 ideally 3 good pubs with regular events are more important still, lives band's weekly sort of thing

I’d stay where we are, near the sea, close to shops and public transport, but I want a property with a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, so probably a dormer bungalow with a master suite upstairs, but the facility to move downstairs when doddery.

Was coming on to say this myself and Instow would be even more, both lovely places.
