Does this look like a rat chewed on this dress?

I'm not sure if I hung it out to dry outside. I think I left it on the radiotor. But does it look like it's been chewed by an animal or got caught in the washing machine?

Bleach or acid? Caught in washing machine?

heartbroken22 · 03/10/2023 10:13

I'm not sure if I added ace stain remover or even if it was a heavy load for it to get caught onto something. Worried rats have come into the house!

The holes look way too symmetrical to be animal related. Something has gone through both sides of the sleeve when folded like that - another guess at a chemical attack of some sort. When was it last worn - what activities were being done?

heartbroken22 · 03/10/2023 10:13

Last worn at playgroup. I might have added ace stain remover directly into the drum?

It doesn't look frayed enough to be a rodent. Where was it? If it was chewed by mice/rats you'd see their droppings in that area.

Seeline · 03/10/2023 10:26

Ah if it was playgroup - do they have scissors?

TheEldersOfTheInternet · 03/10/2023 10:33

Have you felt inside the drum to feel if there's anything sharp sticking up?

madeinmanc · 03/10/2023 12:34

Be careful, I had this with a washing machine years ago and stupidly I put in another load to test it and ruined more clothes!

MariePaperRoses · 03/10/2023 12:54

Stop washing your rats and clothing on the same wash cycle and see if that makes a difference.

PaperNests · 03/10/2023 13:01

Do you have small children? It looks like someone has cut a hole when the fabric was folded, it's created that sort of snowflake effect. I have pet rats and they are much messier and more haphazard, they wouldn't make a nice neat hole and they are unlikely to bother too unless they'd been sleeping on it for a few weeks.

isthismylifenow · 03/10/2023 13:01

No that isn't from a rat.

I say that as a now expert seeing I have had Ratzilla from hell to deal with.

Separate wash cycles for my rats and clothes? In this economy??
