has anyone had a face to face Preop appointment recently? If so, did they insist on weighing you, or did the just ask your weight?

They weigh you so they can calculate the amount of anaesthetic you'll need.

Yes; I've had a number of surgeries, some recent and every time I've been asked to step on a scale and the person doing the pre-op assessment notes down the weight. it's how they know how to safely sedate you, the amount of anaesthesia is determined by body weight. In addition if a person is overweight say, or underweight then this needs to be documented as it may create additional risk factors for sedation and surgery.

If you do not want to be told what it is I'm sure you could ask for them to not say it aloud but I'm not sure there's any way around that otherwise. I cannot imagine any professional taking a patients word for it when the risks are so high and that is not procedure.
