Last week I got an email off school saying that DS (year 3) had been punched in the side of the head by another child. The email said that DS is fine and that the other child has apologised. When he got home I asked what had happened and apparently the other boy wanted the crayon DS was using, DS told him he would give it him when he had finished and then the child hit him.
Then this morning in the playground DS friend comes over to me saying that the same child was chasing DS with a rock and threw it at his head. Luckily the rock missed him. DS was crying so when I spotted the teacher I explained what had happened. She said she is aware of what is happening and she will keep an eye on it. She then said, her exact words “the thing is (child’s name) is fairly new to the school and doesn’t understand the rules yet. We would recommend that (DS name) stays with you in the playground in the mornings from now on” I think this is unfair as all the other children run off and play.
I feel as if they are making excuses for the other child and now DS has to miss out playing with his friends in the morning which he is going to be upset about☹️ Has anybody else been in a similar situation? I just feel a bit helpless
