Does anyone need a lot of rest?

I've always been like this! I wouldn't say my life is excessively busy but my dc hasn't been there this weekend and I've slept 11 hours each night! I have medicated depression but otherwise well.

Me too!! Doctors pretty dismissive. Don't like to make a fuss so just cope. Not great with trying to do things with DC.

Yes I do - or at least I go through phases where I need lots. I have CFS after a bout of glandular fever as a teen and B12 deficiency - I get the injections. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant atm and autumn/winter time is often tricky for me too so needing to rest more than normal right now. Often feel guilty and beat myself up for not being more 'productive' but I just try and take advantage of bursts of energy when they happen.

@Comedycook Yes! And it takes me by surprise every month. “Why am I this knackered AGAIN? Precisely 14 days ago I had some energy for once and now here we are again, every 28 days I’m beyond exhaus— oh.” I’m 42, got my period at 12, you’d think I’d have worked it out by now.

It took me ages to make the connection too!

I've just ordered ginseng because I'm napping daily and mostly not sleeping at night. This is post nervous breakdown. All bloods normal.

Findyourneutralspace · 02/10/2023 15:17

Are you me? I’m exactly the same down to the medicated depression which is generally well controlled. I’m a bit overweight but I was the same when I was slim.

fatrascall · 03/10/2023 16:31

If I'm left to my own devices without responsibilities/ work etc., I will rest about 3/4 of the time 😂

Ha me too. I was convinced I was ill last month for a week as I was so tired. Then my period started. To be fair they’re not as regular these days but I should still make the connection.

Frustrating. I feel a slave to my hormones.

Also need to loads of sleep (that I don’t get thanks to perimenopause). No way could I do a full time job, I’d be exhausted with that plus dog walking, housework, cooking.. Hats off to those that do it.

I used to be like this. But a hip injury means I can no longer exercise. I have so much more energy now! It turns out exercising was making me knackered and sleepy. Now I have the energy to go out in the evenings after work, socialise etc etc.

stargirl1701 · 03/10/2023 20:23

I've always slept more than my peers. My Mum often had to wake me on Christmas Day!

I do wonder if I do too much running. Often feel knackered after a long run.

I need quite a bit of rest.....single parent with 3 boys 65% of the time, work 30th, 5-9 gyms sessions a week (body pump and spin classes), house to run, I'm an empath so need to recharge.....hence I'm just about to nap 😴!

You're a what?!

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 03/10/2023 21:39

Yes peri-menopause and periods at 54 so tired and if do lots in a day the next day am shattered and do not sleep well. Had bloods done and full thyroid check as knew this tiredness was not normal as absolutely drained. Have underactive thyroid and started on meds, is helping a bit but will be getting bloods done again next month to see if need meds upped as they start you on low and build up. So please ladies ask for full blood thyroid check. Am also just started taking iron again but have to take it a few hours later than take thyroid meds. Think we are all made to feel guilty if we do relax and do not do things in the house that need to be done but at the moment just doing what I can and floors will have to wait as have not got the energy.

CryptoFascist · 03/10/2023 21:57

Yes, I'm autistic and working full time doesn't leave me much energy at the end of a day.

That made me laugh
I've had periods for 30 years and I still wonder why I'm sat inhaling chocolate and crying at my desk Hmm

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 03/10/2023 23:19

I am same re: period. I have since I am 12 and still wonder why I feel so low and am so clumsy, wish they would stop soon as sick to death of them at this stage as 54 now.
