School uniform. Collar in or out?

After DS's school has changed the uniform for a polo shirt and a round neck jumper and seeing his friends dropped off the at school I just wondered would you keep the collar in the jumper or take it out? Also, would you bother doing up the top button? DS is as clueless as me when it comes to fashion / styling anything

I would take it out and do up the top button, but looking at DS mates, it would seem I would be making a huge mistake

Uniform trends like that seem to be area dependent, and even social group dependent.

He's best making his own decisions based on his school and peers

My son is only in Reception so the fashion stakes aren't high but we have top button open and collar out. That seems the norm but not universal.

I think you are massively overthinking it. DS friends or parents will not be taking any notive of how his collar is styled. Put it the way you like and DS is comfortable with.

Here it's buttoned up collar in

Collar in looks daft to me. It irks me when my husband does it with his shirt.

For me: collar out, top button undone.

I would only do up a top button if there was no jumper involved or it was a shirt and a tie was being worn.

I'm not a fan of polo shirts as uniforms as I think they look scruffy. Unfortunately that (and jogging bottoms 🤢) is part of my son's nursery uniform so I'm going to have to find a way to style it smartly come next September 🙄
