So, you know when a product says you need a small amount and yet the squirt dispenser thingy seems to issue half the bottle. I'm wondering if there's a way to reduce the amount dispensed with a single pump? I say this because I've discovered I can buy a certain toiletry in bulk but not sure it's worth it if it's pumped out like water.

Refil the old normal size dispenser/use an empty hand soap dispenser maybe, or buy an empty dispenser?

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 01/10/2023 23:07

Decant.

HappyCamperTent · 01/10/2023 23:08

Don’t press the pump the whole way down

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/10/2023 23:57

Buy a smaller dispenser bottle for a couple of £

Clicheinaqashqai · 02/10/2023 00:06

Put an elastic band/small hair tie around the pump so it only ever presses half way down

I feel your pain, I find if I buy bigger fabric conditioner bottles people just use it more liberally. I decant it into smaller bottles now.

I have a spare bottle and decant half my Dove body wash into that and fill with water. Always. And we still stay clean.

Why the eye rolling @Efficaciou5, it's a valid point. Lots of manufacturers design packaging so that the product is used wastefully. Eg Sunpat peanut butter where its hard to get it all out of the jar or toothpaste where they make the hole wider that needs to be and all the adverts show a long stripe on the brush when much less is actually needed.

It means people use and therefore buy more than they need so it's worth being mindful of this. For the OP I'd look to decant, especially as a large bottle might be hard to deal with in the shower.

Thank-you all the suggestions are really helpful, and thank-you again @BarbaraofSeville. It's absolutely not by accident that the bottles work this way.
@SoShallINever isn't it annoying. I glance at the price per measure when shopping then internally wince when hands go at some of the toiletries.
@Clicheinaqashqai oww this sounds like a very quick win
