Going to Egypt with my dds at half term. It's 6 years since we have been abroad and tbf I've been diagnosed with severe anxiety (80% better now) since then so expect that's the lens im stuck with.....

It's an all inclusive place with water slides etc.

I'm paranoid I will forget things.

So far on the crucial list is several cossies to make sure they have dry ones, insect spray, paracetamol etc, the waterproof phone pouch thing, sanitary stuff for dd1, rock shoes for the beach.

It's hurgada. I've been to Egypt before but so long ago I feel clueless as to what you can buy and what's extortionate etc.

an extension lead with an adapter.

And from experience this year.....thrush cream!

chipsandpeas · 01/10/2023 18:12

tweezers were the thing i forgot on my last holiday

EmpressaurusOfCats · 01/10/2023 18:12

Also came to say adapter. I had to buy one when I got to Italy, which was at least pretty straightforward.

Plump82 · 01/10/2023 18:13

I was going to say swimwear as that what I forgot one year. But you've got that sorted.
Medicine for dodgy stomachs?

Linnty · 01/10/2023 18:21

Took electric toothbrush, forgot the charging lead.

gotomomo · 01/10/2023 18:28

Adapter plug(s), sunscreen, basic medicines including Imodium, plasters, bug spray, cover ups for excursions (below knees and elbows, not just due to local sensibilities, but it's damn hot and saves sunburn!) also head scarves if you want to go into certain places/protect from sun, hats, clothes for evenings.

ForeverYellow · 01/10/2023 18:29

Razor to shave my legs and armpits .

Justcallmebebes · 01/10/2023 18:31

Passport

slopsan · 01/10/2023 18:31

Suncream / cover ups

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 01/10/2023 18:32

My DC's underwear.

minipie · 01/10/2023 18:33

Pants

You can buy all manner of swimwear, kaftans, flip flops in resort towns… but no pants.

1992H · 01/10/2023 18:35

We recently went and inflatables! If your daughters will want them buy them here-so much cheaper. The pool staff will still inflate them etc for you. And we found tipping in English was fine, or euros. Or Egyptian! They weren’t concerned.

don’t worry about taking anything for upset stomachs etc-if anyone gets unwell you need their local meds not ours. Most hotels have a pharmacy on site/at the entrance, it’s really reasonable and works in a day tops. Don’t waste the time trying the likes of Imodium first 😊

PuttingDownRoots · 01/10/2023 18:36

Bite cream
Aftersun
Plasters
Rehydration powder
Empty water bottle

Make sure you've checked roaming for your phones and got the right upgrade if necessary

PuttingDownRoots · 01/10/2023 18:37

Ghic cards and travel insurance

MK19590 · 01/10/2023 18:37

I once went for a city break and forgot to pack bras

GreenTuraco · 01/10/2023 18:38

Last holiday I forgot to pack any spare knickers, that was annoying

glintwithperspiration · 01/10/2023 18:40

Forgot to take a coat to Denmark in November

peekaboo1986 · 01/10/2023 18:42

Have never forgotten anything as of yet but as your going to Egypt you will NEED enough Imodium to last the week for all three of you, trust me on that.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 01/10/2023 18:43

Agree with PP on thrush treatment. I always get it on holiday.

Obvs the travel plug with USB points although most TVs have USB points in hotels so you can charge that way if necessary.

Anti histamines are a must for me and paracetemol.

ApolloandDaphne · 01/10/2023 18:43

I forgot my swimsuit on a beach holiday once. Had to wear one belonging to my friends DM! (It was a big group holiday)

SoSad44 · 01/10/2023 18:44

Definitely take stuff for dodgy tummies when going to egypt.

MariaLuna · 01/10/2023 18:45

Most hotels have a pharmacy on site/at the entrance

I've travelled A LOT and never seen this.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 01/10/2023 18:45

Antihistamines and Cystitis powder are always on my packing list. I also (much to DH's amusement) pack swimwear for everyone in my hand luggage in case of a lost or missing suitcase. My chest takes some wrestling into a costume, so there's zero chance of me being able to find a replacement one easily abroad!

Peekingovertheparapet · 01/10/2023 18:48

I normally travel with what feels like a small
mobile pharmacy, much to DH’s annoyance. This year I forgot when we took a last minute trip to Lanzarote and it was the first time we’ve ever needed medication. I will always take it from now on, for no other reasons that it’s talismanic properties.

Icouldabeenalawyer · 01/10/2023 18:59

Just to say OP, my dc went on hols with his dad & dsm & they got him one of them waterproof pouch things for his phone & it was rubbish, his phone broke with the water damage. Yours may be better quality, but just in case.
Have a lovely time all of you x
