How long to get used to new varifocal glasses?

I got new (v expensive) varifocals a week ago. I've been wearing them all day every day and they still give me a queasy feeling that the world is swaying. Especially when looking at lower shelves in a supermarket or plants in the garden.

Will it get better? Do I need to persist with wearing them to get accustomed to it? Or is there anything else I can do?

I was told by the optician 6 weeks .
I'd say maybe a bit less .persevere

Months rather than weeks or days for me, but some things were immediately better (crocheting while watching TV and, but not at the same time, driving) while some things took longer (walking around outdoors) and some took even longer (escalators).

Stairs with patterned carpets remain a nightmare.

Thanks for all the comments. Interesting that it is so variable. I'll go back to the optician and see what they can do.
