Apple Watch for dh with anxiety

Is an Apple Watch a bad idea for someone with anxiety. He’s just started counselling and I’m trying to support him with feeling physically healthy and managing life stress. Would something that tells you how little sleep you’re having and that your heart rate is high going to make you feel more in control or more out of control?? I can only really afford the cheaper model (£200 ish) Any other ideas would be appreciated. He doesn’t ever really enjoy gifts and breaks away are tricky

Yes, That would make me feel significantly worse. I do have a Fitbit but never wear it at night, I found the sleep stats very stressful.

I have never understood the appeal of these things, but I would think the temptation to constantly check would absolutely feed someone's anxiety.

Thanks. That’s what I thought as I was posting 🙈 Forgot to say it’s for his birthday

Mine has actually really helped me with some aspects of my anxiety. A lot of the time when I panic and think my heart rate is high I check on my watch and it is not as high as I feel like it is, which in itself calms me down. You can turn off the alerts that tell you about high/irregular heart rhythms, if you don't want them.

There's also a function called mindfulness, where it gets you to focus on your breathing for a minute, it has an accompanying sort of 'pulsing' on your wrist, which I find very calming. I always use this when I'm on a plane that is taking off, as I hate that! I am also very motivated by the monthly challenges, step counter etc, this has been very helpful when I haven't felt like moving.

I don't use it at night at all, so the sleep tracker has never been something I've thought about.
