Tell me about heated throws?

Are they any good? Have a discount code for one and with winter looming and high bills I am wondering if it is worth it

Definitely no better than a regular blanket plus a hot water bottle. They are super heavy and you get too hot but with a hot water bottle you can just chuck it out. Can't do that with a heated throw.

FloweryName · 30/09/2023 13:53

I love mine and now that it exists I can’t imagine winter without it.

mooncloud1 · 30/09/2023 13:55

I have 2 and they are amazing! Cheap to run and can machine wash. My boiler broke last year at Christmas and in the weeks wait for a new one I don't know how I would have coped without them!
Highly recommend. I have a cheaper one from Amazon and a more expensive one from Dreamland.

Logoplanter · 30/09/2023 13:55

I like mine. I WFH about half the week, and our house is a very cold house. The heated throw keeps me nice and toasty. The downside is when I have to get up and leave my desk!

I've got one of the fake fur ones from Lakeland and it is cheap to run. I'd recommend it.

mooncloud1 · 30/09/2023 13:55

Also, maybe some are but mine are not at all heavy, maybe they do weighed one which the PP was talking about, but it's like a regular blanket.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 30/09/2023 13:57

Love them. They aren't (or the one I've got isn't) super heavy and you can regulate the heat. The one I've got is from Lakeland, fleece lined and is warm even without the heat on.

And that's reminded me I need to test mine to make sure it's OK.

lovelands · 30/09/2023 13:57

Love my Dreamland one 😍 cosy and feels very soft

Willow12345 · 30/09/2023 14:01

Definitely a good buy if you're trying to keep the heating costs down in the evenings. It's lovely snuggling under one on the sofa and they are not heavy. Only annoying thing is that the lead can get in the way.

MyDogSmellsTerrible · 30/09/2023 14:02

They're brilliant. We all have one in our house and they've saved a fortune on heating bills.

crumblingschools · 30/09/2023 14:06

Currently snuggled under my faux fur one, not switched on at the moment but have been using it most evenings lately

EquallyDetermined · 30/09/2023 14:11

They are amazing, we have one each end of our sofa, they are as light as a feather, several temperature settings, washable, if you do get too hot you switch it off or push it off you, we use the heating far less in the evenings since we got them.

EquallyDetermined · 30/09/2023 14:11

Mind you its so warm at the moment we haven't needed them yet.

whiteroseredrose · 30/09/2023 14:14

We bought them for PIL last Christmas and they loved them.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/09/2023 14:22

Absolutely love mine and saves money on heating. Added bonus that the cats like it too.

ChipAndMiss · 30/09/2023 14:25

Love mine.

I work from home most of the week and it’s so much more efficient to heat me rather than heat the room on colder days.

Tadpolle · 30/09/2023 14:41

Love mine. It's a light fleecy blanket with a fake fur side and a fake sheepskin side. Nice to use just as a blanket, incredibly toasty when turned on. Has defo stopped me putting the heating on loads of times last winter.

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 30/09/2023 14:42

I love mine as well, so nice and cosy, definitely worth every penny!

Goodornot · 30/09/2023 14:46

I'll have a think. I take the point about the hot water bottle and a new one would be cheaper

Love mine. Not heavy and love being able to get warm at the flick of a button. It's from Lakeland

PinkyDinkyDoodle · 30/09/2023 18:48

I wouldn’t be without mine. One of my best ever purchases. Mine is a Dreamland one, and the children have Lakeland. None of them are heavy, and they are much better than having a hot water bottle. The heat distribution is much better, they are easily controllable, there is no risk of you getting scorched/ hot water bottle rash, and if you get chilly in the middle of the night you can pop them on (using the timer) without having to get out of bed.

I use mine at night as well as when I’m working during the day.

AtlasPine · 30/09/2023 18:52

Perfect for those at home during the day to stay warm during downtime/working online without putting the heating on. I adore mine and buy them for anyone in the family who wants on.

BrownTableMat · 30/09/2023 18:52

I love mine too. It heats a much greater area than a hot water bottle and it isn’t heavy at all. Though I do spend most of the winter fighting the dog for it - we usually come to a compromise where I’m underneath it and she’s on top of it (and me).

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 30/09/2023 19:06

We have 3,they are fantastic. Mine are old though, bought them for 30 quid, they're a lot more now!
