Lentils! And all pulses.

Redlarge · 30/09/2023 10:34

I like the horrid and probably very bad for you chopped ham with egg in the middle

gotomomo · 30/09/2023 10:39

Dal (lentils or chickpeas) with brown basmati rice. Super cheap, healthy, filling

karmakameleon · 30/09/2023 10:39

Chickpeas. Roasted and in curries. But they hate hummus.

KevinDeBrioche · 30/09/2023 10:43

dal and rice with any kind of greens
minestrone! SO cheap and easy and filling
black bean chilli with rice or baked potatoes
chickpea / spinach / coconut curry with rice
ribollita. absolutely delicious and a great 'end of the fridge' meal
risotto. we freeze any old / leftover ends of bottles of wine and use the cubes in with the stock. any veg can go in risotto.

Tinned mackerel in sauce - tomato, chilli, thai curry flavour etc. DS will eat it at least three times a week, on toast, with rice, with salad.

I buy store brand ketchup. I can’t think of anything else that isn’t branded Hmm

Value garlic bread! Less than 40p for a baguette.

Xiaoxiong · 30/09/2023 11:17

Apple slices with peanut butter

Chopped up strips of cuke, pepper, carrot, tomato with salt (add olive oil, balsamic and hummus if feeling flush)

Orange wedges to make orange peel smiles

Leek & potato soup

Broccoli cheddar soup

Lentil soup

Chicken soup made with the bones from a roast and a handful of broken pasta (lasagna sheet shards work well)

Baked potatoes
