Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm in my kitchen spot, with my first cuppa of the day. The window's open & it's silent down here apart from the fridge humming away to itself & the birds I can hear in one of the trees. I think they're in the big Christmas tree type at the bottom of a neighbours garden.

There's uniform washing to be done, pots to wash up from last night, and I volunteered dd1 to sweep in here since she was messing about chucking rainbow drops about yesterday. Other than that, the house is mostly clean and tidy.

Dd1's off into town with their dad today for a few bits for college, then off out with her friend.

Dd2, I think, got up at 4am to watch Adele so will be in bed a while longer. I don't think she was fussed about going anywhere today.

I plan to print a Vinted label & head to the shop with the parcel, then sit at the kitchen table crafting. We're off to the Eras Tour film in a couple of weeks so I might get the beads out and see if the girls want to join me making a handful of friendship bracelets.

Tonight it's a cooked breakfast for tea 😋 then probably more crafting for me, a bit of homework for dd1 and some more reading for dd2.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning everyone.
Child free weekend for us as all kids with their other respective parents. Bliss. Was up early watching the golf. I had planned a nice day out for us in London, art exhibition and dinner and drinks somewhere nice. Sodding train strike has put pay to that!
Just popped to get my nails done, then we are going for lunch in the next town over. Then back to watch more golf!

Have a nice day everyone Smile

Mainly feeling sorry for myself with what I suspect is a chest infection 😤
Have had such a busy week, dh laid up with a broken ankle, it’s been my birthday, kids have needed a lot from me, work has been mental, I was on leave Thursday Friday and had to ferry dh to appointments and one of the dc’s school was closed so they were home, one is off college on Fridays anyway and the other came back from uni as a birthday surprise which, although lovely, she had been home for 3 months and had only been back for 2 weeks, it ended up that I had all 3dc to entertain on the Friday and I just wanted a bit of time to myself as I was feeling really run down. Just having a pity party for one really - anyone care to get out the worlds smallest violin for me?! 😂

DP and I are currently waiting to board a flight to Spain. I absolutely cannot wait for a few days of relaxing!

AdoraBell · 30/09/2023 11:33

Just back from dog walk, she’s elderly now and only wants to go to a local coffee shop. She gets a treat and we have ☕️

Going out for errands possibly having lunch out. Then sorting things in the garden.

lucysmam · 30/09/2023 11:38

@AndStand love it! It's very pretty 🥰

@newyorkinthefall have an amazing time...not jealous at all 🤔

Just made it! It's still morning for a few minutes, so morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I've been to a class this morning, a newish one called Fit Steps, which is based on dance steps and is great fun.

Then, into our small town to order logs for the winter and got some fresh sourdough bread from the bakery.
I'm just having a sofa moment waiting for the online shop to arrive.

I'm going to see my mum and help her do some life admin in the afternoon and then tea and Strictly when the menfolk get home from the football. Probably the Scotland Romania rugby, too

Harmless fun @CallieQ

Simonjt · 30/09/2023 12:13

Good morning.

I’ve been to the gym this morning and I took the dog on a run. We then all went swimming together, the pool had one of those wall mounted toddler harnesses/seats in every changing cubicle.

This afternoon we’re going to the local Gurdwara so we can sign our son up for Swedish Sikh (like scouts I guess, but for Sikhs) and see what community bits they have coming up that I can join.

Apart from that we’re planning on having a lazy day today, it’s been a hectic week actually, so I imagine we won’t do much tomorrow either.

ssd · 30/09/2023 12:15

@lucysmam thank you im going to goSmile

This!

Very jealous we haven't dived regularly since DS was born. He's 15 now but showing no interest sadly, so we will have to wait until he decides to stop coming on holiday with us.

Decafflatteplease · 30/09/2023 13:39

Missed this earlier @lucysmam so I'm saying good afternoon instead!

Busy but good morning here, dropped teens off at the gym and we took the little ones to the library. I had an email that 2 books I'd ordered at the library were ready so I picked those up, simple pleasures!

Picked up a takeaway box thing from m and s for dinner, can pad it out with our own rice and some bits from the freezer.

Got a baguette (still warm) from the bakery for our lunches, again with the simple pleasures!

Home now, DH off out for a few pints with a friend, have stuck a film on for the DC, it's a damp dreich day here, tumble dryer going non stop it feels. I'm hoping to settle down while the DC watch the film with a pot of tea and read one of my new books!

Whattheduck · 30/09/2023 14:16

Dropped dd off for dance classes before doing my weekly food shop
Put shopping away then picked dd up and went to see my db as it’s his birthday
Came home put a wash on just had a coffee now going to strip the beds
Dh is away with work until tomorrow and dd is working from 6.30 til 10.30 then going to her boyfriends so I have a night to myself
Lasagne and garlic bread for tea
Going to watch some tv then go to bed and listen to a podcast

Purplerain0505 · 30/09/2023 14:22

Afternoon! We had our nephew stay last night so we took him and our DS to a big soft play place for the morning. Not been to it before and I was amazed by how clean it was! We dropped him home and now we’re all having some chill time - DS watching a film, DH playing a game, I’m having a scroll and a coffee.

I’ll get up shortly to do some housework and laundry. I’m not too sure what else to do with myself but I’m loving the slow afternoon and having nowhere to be.

We’ve got a cold bottle of wine in the fridge for later which I’m looking forward to since we cut out all mid-week booze. DH and I will have something tasty for dinner and catch up on a bit of tv this evening once DS is in bed.

Splash80 · 30/09/2023 14:24

Deep cleaned the kitchen and fridge this morning. Took delivery of a food shop. Tidied other areas in the house. Washing on. DH has cleaned the patio. Dishwasher currently running a cleaning programme. Gym soon. DH out tonight so I'm deciding what to have as sofa snacks. I'm Dieting, having what I want tonight but my tastes have changed. I no longer want chocolate or sweets. Not interested in cakes or crisps or cheese. I would usually love all these. I'm thinking bread with dipping oils & balsamic with wine. Will do my nails, shave legs, wax my foof.

BabyStopCryin · 30/09/2023 15:20

Had flu jab. Been having ocular migraines on and off all day now. Bah. Nice cuppa tea and an audio book should fix that. No college work as it’s with burny and sharp things so I don’t want to lose a digit.

AdoraBell · 30/09/2023 15:40

Hope that migraine has gone BabyStopCrying

CaramelicedLatte · 30/09/2023 15:53

Good afternoon, @lucysmam! Lovely to hear you're having a chilled out day.

Ours has been a bit busier than usual. DD had a riding lesson this morning, DH cleaned round downstairs a bit whilst I took DD. She and I picked up our Click + Collect order from Tesco on the way home.

DH has now taken DD and DS1 to a family event (his side), whilst I have stayed home with DS2 as he's not feeling brilliant. I've been baking flapjacks using an apparently MN legendary recipe for the first time, quite excited to try those! Will also be preparing a beef goulash for dinner shortly. Once DH and DC are home we will eat that with mashed potato and watch a film or play DS2's new game (recent birthday).

Tomorrow I will be up to take DD to parkrun at 9, then home to have bacon croissants for breakfast. Then we're all off to walk DDog and have a picnic lunch. DH is then going to play some golf with a friend whilst I cook roast gammon and a carrot cake. I love Sundays so much, so I'm very excited!
