Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm in my kitchen spot, with my first cuppa of the day. The window's open & it's silent down here apart from the fridge humming away to itself & the birds I can hear in one of the trees. I think they're in the big Christmas tree type at the bottom of a neighbours garden.

There's uniform washing to be done, pots to wash up from last night, and I volunteered dd1 to sweep in here since she was messing about chucking rainbow drops about yesterday. Other than that, the house is mostly clean and tidy.

Dd1's off into town with their dad today for a few bits for college, then off out with her friend.

Dd2, I think, got up at 4am to watch Adele so will be in bed a while longer. I don't think she was fussed about going anywhere today.

I plan to print a Vinted label & head to the shop with the parcel, then sit at the kitchen table crafting. We're off to the Eras Tour film in a couple of weeks so I might get the beads out and see if the girls want to join me making a handful of friendship bracelets.

Tonight it's a cooked breakfast for tea 😋 then probably more crafting for me, a bit of homework for dd1 and some more reading for dd2.

What about all of you? 🙂

I’m in New York with family for DS’s special birthday. Kids so excited! It’s dreadful rain, bouncing off the pavements yesterday for 8 hours. It didn’t stop our fun though. But I really don’t fancy putting wet trainers back on today, although more rain is forecast today before 23 DegC tomorrow.

dontforgetme · 30/09/2023 10:17

@Chelsea26 that sounds amazing! Enjoy! I may fly that idea past my friend this afternoon!

maddiemookins16mum · 30/09/2023 10:17

I have tons to do today, hence why I’m sat on MN.
I’ve just set a reminder on Alexa to tell me to stop for lunch. DH is upstairs in his office working on a teaching course.
I am about to hang out a load of washing and have two more to do.
Then prep a bolognaise for the slow cooker for dinner tonight.
Then, in no particular order, clean kitchen, floors, lounge, Conservatory, hall, landing, bedrooms. Do all bins. Sort/wipe out fridge.
Lunch at 1pm (homemade sausage rolls from the freezer).
This afternoon we are having a garden blitz, it looks a mess and I want to get my winter tubs and hanging containers done (bought the violas, pansies etc last week).
Then hopefully, I can have a sit down and read or crochet for an hour.
Spaghetti Bolognaise for dinner, Strictly and we are watching the Jill Dando doc on Netflix.
Plus I have 24 cakes (of some sort) to make for Choir practice at Church tomorrow night (I’m thinking mini Cinnamon buns).

Getting house puppy proofed for Thursdays arrival of this little chap!

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
Kim82 · 30/09/2023 10:20

Good morning all. I’m just at the hairdressers getting my highlights done. Dh has a day off today so is home with the kids.

The plan when I get home is to do some washing and cleaning, await the Tesco shop, avoid dh as much as possible as he is absolutely full of a cold and I need to get the suitcases out of the attic and start packing as we go on holiday on Friday.

We’re having burgers and wedges for tea tonight and will no doubt stick a film on before bed.

Look, you can’t post a photo without a name, it’s the law 😂😂

MirandaWest · 30/09/2023 10:21

Went out for a 5k run to complete a challenge I’ve been doing this month.

Working from 9am to 1pm. Then some combination of housework, a walk, a bath and a sleep. Somewhere between zero and four will be done 😃

minmooch · 30/09/2023 10:21

@maddiemookins16mum his name is Dylan!

Giggorata · 30/09/2023 10:25

Awww!

Good morning lucysmam and all,
I have done tea and pills and put lamb shanks in the slow cooker.
This morning I have fence painting to do, then some washing and hoovering.
DH is down on the land cutting the hedge.

This afternoon I am meeting a friend who lives abroad and is back in the country for a visit.

Nothing planned for this evening, might finish my book.

lucysmam · 30/09/2023 10:25

@minmooch Dylan is lovely 😊 He looks very cuddle-able!

@Chelsea26 that sounds fantastic. Enjoy your swim!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/09/2023 10:28

I love reading these threads so hope you don’t mind me joining in.

DP is away with work so it’s just me and the cat. She’s been fed and is out catting, I’ve brought tea back to bed. I’m meeting one of my oldest friends for lunch later. Once I get home I need to do some housework, then a bath and Strictly. I started the Supermodels doc on Apple TV last night so will watch some more of that. Debating switching our bed to the cosy flannelette bedlinen (Scotland so much cooler here)

Lovely puppy!

Chelsea26 · 30/09/2023 10:29

@dontforgetme Definitely do - I 100% recommend!

My friend and I met at uni and back then (25 years ago!) we set up a ‘fun fund’. We used to put £10 a month in but over the years it has gone up and now it’s £50 a month - so every holiday/night out we have is paid for by the fun fund and therefore essentially free!

Getawaytoblazes · 30/09/2023 10:31

Ds has a birthday party to go to, so dh has taken him to the shops to get a present. Dd didn't want to go but then changed her mind as soon as they'd left, so I took her down to meet them (I wanted her to go with them as she needs to look for a new coat and I need to clean the house).

One of my oldest and dearest friends is coming to see us today, so that's lovely. Dinner / lunch and drinks depending on what time he arrives.

Andnowshesatoddler · 30/09/2023 10:37

Off out to a local outdoorsy place my little girl is down with a cold but still too little to know to lie on the sofa so wrap up and a nice walk.
I have to pop to the city this afternoon as I want to go to a specific shop.
Hopefully drop in on my brother later on too.

NonMiDispiace · 30/09/2023 10:37

I’m faffing around getting nowhere quickly. I seem to be getting a bug, I woke up with a headache and my throat is prickly.
DH has taken dog out, I need to vacuum the downstairs and get something sorted for lunch, probably local sausages, chips and beans from the garden I think.
At least the house is reasonably tidy, I will light the wood burner later because it’s definitely chilly here, 10° outside 🫤
I should do some crochet or watercolour painting…….

TigerRag · 30/09/2023 10:38

Dog sitting

OldTinHat · 30/09/2023 10:39

I love your descriptions of your first cuppa, @lucysmam. I automatically relax just imagining it!

I don't know what to do today. I had two freak incidents happen yesterday at different times, both involved the police. I'm in a confuddle now, shaken up, so will just scroll here a while and imagine your peace.

Happy Saturday everyone!

catscatscurrantscurrants · 30/09/2023 10:41

Having the second coffee of the day and sitting at the window hoping for sunshine. Trying to avoid looking at the hoovering; doing the stairs is one of my least favourite jobs! I will distract myself with sewing beautiful silk things for the Etsy shop and making plans for my (tiny) business empire.

mamaduckbone · 30/09/2023 10:42

Morning @lucysmam and all. I've been for my run, had my usual almond milk porridge with everything mixed in breakfast and currently drinking tea and mustering the enthusiasm to go for a shower.
Dh is working, ds1 is at his gf's, ds2 is maggoting in his room so all is quiet here.
I've got bits of tidying and work to do this morning then meeting a friend for lunch. I'm watching ds1 play rugby this afternoon, possibly with ds2 - home match so no big drive - then home for fajitas, a glass of wine and a film.
A chilled Saturday here, which is just what I need.

ssd · 30/09/2023 10:43

Ive had 2 lots of tea and toast so am now contemplating a frothy coffee. Am still in bed enjoying the peace. Need to go to primark later to change stuff sizewise. Am then meeting friends for lunch im in 2 minds about meeting but i need to push myself.

Have a lovely day @lucysmam and everyone else here.

lucysmam · 30/09/2023 10:50

@OldTinHat it's my favourite time of day. When I'm at work, I purposely get up earlier than needed so I can sit here for half an hour in peace while everyone else is upstairs getting sorted 😊 It sounds like you could do with a chilled day today!

@ssd go for lunch! I couldn't be arsed on Thursday to meet two of my friends for lunch but did eventually shift & we had a lovely afternoon chatting about everything and nothing.

Ooh @AndStand I've seen some tiktok videos of people doing those - never tried it. Do you enjoy them? Can we see? (You don't have to though!) I just seem to stick to painting endless supplies of little people 🤣

I love it! I'm not very good, but I don't care 🙂

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
fevertotell · 30/09/2023 11:00

I'm seeing my lovely old uni friend for a cuppa in a bit (haven't seen each other in 10 months) Then I'm off to watch my team get battered by Man City.

Then picking up samosas for tea on the way home. I'll be watching the final speedway Grand Prix then off up town for the 27 year anniversary night of an old club I used to attend.

So a busy busy day. Enjoy your days everyone x

Phos · 30/09/2023 11:02

The child woke at 7 which was a bit annoying - tends to be the case when she sleeps in her den rather than her bed. Anyway we all got up watched Mr Bean (who she recently discovered) whilst eating toast and she went off to play whilst we pottered around, had showers etc. She's now at football with her dad and I'm having my 3rd cup of tea before I have to leave in 10 mins to go have my hair done. Having colours put it so will be a long one - quite nice to be able to relax with a book and a brew whilst I'm there. Afterwards I'll pop home to pick some bits up then I'm going to my mums for dinner and Strictly and I'll stay over so I can have a few drinks (my stepdad makes POTENT G&Ts!) Child and husband are going out for the day after footy to a museum and out for both lunch AND tea (so indulgent)
