Are the Mandelorians slaves?

They can't take off their helmets so that limits their personal relationships. They don't really have any downtime (because they can't take off their masks) so they are tied to work 100%. If you never get to leave work and you have onerous conditions with serious sanctions if you don't comply, that is the definition of modern day slavery.

Mandalorians. The definition of slavery is surely being bought and owned by another person?

More like monks I would say

Of course you are right, I am not trying to mock/ make light of slavery. I understand it is still happening and it is horrendous. I am not a huge Star Wars fan, but that series made me feel a bit Hmm. I guess the equivalent to monks or Knights Templar is more accurate. I wonder if it would have been better if Carrie Fisher had run an eye over the script.
