I’ve had a really disappointing takeaway and now I’m sad

First world problem ahoy.

We’re on holidays. I’m also on a diet but my husband has been talking all week about a local fish and chip place that’s meant to be amazing and said he’d love to try it tonight, so I planned my food for the day accordingly and was hungry and in the mood for takeaway.

I’m not the biggest fan of chips but the website and Instagram page went into lots of detail about the fish and seafood that comes off the boat every day- squid, prawns etc.

The website descriptions of what I ordered were-
Calamari- fresh squid in our signature light and crispy batter
Onion rings- slices of fresh onion in our signature light and crispy batter

Sounds nice, yeah?

This is the shit they gave me.

Clearly cooked from large bags of frozen crap. Cheap, nasty, tasteless, and processed. Completely inedible.

I’m sad. And hungry.

And to make it worse, they close ridiculously early so I couldn’t even phone up to complain because they were shut by the time I got home and opened these abominations.

Proper onion rings can be lovely,I'd rather eat a crisp sandwich than what I see before me however.

How much was it if you don’t mind me asking?

I have now ordered my bodyweight in fried chicken. I blame this thread.

Large cod and chips- £15.50
Tartare sauce was £1.50 extra

And I’ve been doing so well. I call it a diet but it’s really more of a lifestyle change as I’m getting to grips with what I eat and why. I’m managing my calories realistically, feeling great, and I’m at the stage where I’m getting more confident about being able to eat unhealthy things on occasion as part of a balanced and sustainable approach to eating and living.

So I cut back on calories yesterday and today to make sure I could “afford” a nice fried dinner.

Now I’m just hungry and fed-up. Had a slice of toast and a banana, but it’s not as good.

@ChipAndMiss my husband moans because there's only one takeaway in our small town I know will never let me down, I refuse to use any others as it's too risky haha.

Crikey, for £15 for fish and chips I'd expect it to be decent.

Next time go to Cromer. £15 for fish and chips to eat in and it is bloody awesome!

Oh no, a bad take away is so so disappointing. I hardly ever have take aways and expect them to be a 'treat' and very tasty!

Most takeaway disappoints me to be honest! I have 3 or 4 that I like and I never bother to stray from them now.

A major reason I'm never moving is proximity to an excellent chippy and a superb Chinese takeaway. Our local burger place is amazing but I don't order often. Sorry about the ring disaster.

Definitely review, it’s rubbish. Let it go though don’t torment yourself thinking the money ought to be better spent elsewhere, it’s done and spent now.
