Bleak House and/or Hard Times. Not the actual plots tbf, just the titles and the sense of general misery. COL crisis and all that...

@HorribleHisTories15 no, I know the name, didn’t know it was a comic novel till just now! Reading the synopsis and front page that’s in the Wikipedia article, I’d say Pooter’s life is quite hectic compared with mine!

(And at least my Daisy doesn’t start food fights ...😸)
