Does anyone else not really participate in WhatsApp group chats?

I've been added to a few group chats that I'd rather not be in. I tend to participate rarely, if ever, but sometimes I feel I should contribute something. I'd leave but don't want to appear rude, even though I know it's only administrator that's informed when someone leaves.

Anyone else feel the same?

I don’t allow myself to be added! You can do this in your probably settings.

I have a few that I have muted.

🙋‍♀️ Me… I rarely participate, especially on the school class ones . They’re the absolute worst.

I don't think it's just admin that's notified unless there's been an update I'm not aware of. Afaik everyone sees you've left. That's why I've muted so many groups and dot even open them anymore 😆

I have all of my group chats archived. I can't be arsed with them.

I was in one that I stopped participating in. Then I muted it and finally the admin removed me 🤣

So if you go to settings, privacy, groups you can choose which contacts can add you to groups. If you select all your contacts then people can send you an invitation to the group, but they can't just add you. I avoid them at all costs. If I have to join I usually stick them in the locked bit pretty quickly and only check them say the day before the party they're about or once a week or something.

Then I leave!
