I travelled just over 3/4 hour today to our nearest MacArthur Glen shopping outlet specifically to visit a cooking shop. I wanted 2 new small kitchen knives and a set of steak knives. I got all of that and some new tea towels.

I hadn’t paid a lot of attention to the prices, there’s always the RRP then the outlet price displayed. I went for the cheapest range of kitchen knives and the steak knives were in the sale. I also got Blue Light Card discount.

I paid just over £46 which I was pleased with. The receipt was emailed to me. I’ve just got home and looked at the receipt - they steak knives aren’t on there at all.

I have no idea when I’ll next be heading in that direction to go back to the shop.

I'd happily use my free steak knives and think no more of it.

Well technically they gave you the knives as a present which is ver' ver; unluckly , you need to counter it by giving someone a present in return.
So maybe think "Yay , free knives" and put £10 in a charity box ?

Seriously though , were the knives not tagged ? You'd have to produce proof of age to buy them so its not as though they were unaware of them ?

Thanks all. I’m going to double my monthly donation to the local food bank and enjoy our new steak knives (though probably still feel guilty about using them forevermore!).

@70isaLimitNotaTarget i’m not sure about security tagging. I showed the assistant what I wanted - they have empty boxes on display. She went to get them from the storeroom and then wrapped them in their store branded paper. She did the same with the 2 other knives too. These were wrapped together. I am very obviously over 25 so wasn’t asked to show ID
