How to stop 20 month old pulling his nappy off?

He's managed to pull his nappy off a couple of times these last few days, and this led to him accidentally urinating on the floor and in his bed. 😮

The underlying issue is that he's discovered what's in his nappy and he tries to play with that whenever he can.

I'm not a prude and I'll teach him about private behaviours when he's a bit older, but for now, how do I stop him accidentally weeing everywhere?

Any tips for keeping the nappy on?

Sorry possibly a daft question, but is he wearing a vest? DD was a nightmare for pulling her nappy off over the summer when she didn’t have a vest on but now vests are back on the agenda we’re fine.

It’s a stage they grow out of- I wouldn’t worry too much. At night you’ll just have to put a nappy on once asleep

Vest with poppers and dungarees. He will forget about it very soon and move on to the next thing .

Have you tried the pull up nappy pants?

EightMonthsScared · 29/09/2023 14:00

Vest with poppers! Really, really simple solution.

Can't believe I didn't that of that. Thanks everyone!

Maybe he wants to use a potty and doesn't like being wet? Mine were all out of nappies then (not a boast and no indication of future intelligence, just what they were like).

If, in the future, you find that he can pull open the poppers, you can buy vests/onesies that zip up the back. My friend has an older child with SEN and it is only thing she has found that keeps him from ripping his nappy off.

I used to put the baby grows on back to front and also sellotaped the nappy round the middle. My son was a contortionist!

Really great tips here. I'm going shopping in a bit so I'll have a look for popper and zipper Vests. He generally just wears t shirts, and that gives him easy access to his little friend 😆

I'm going to start thinking seriously about potty training too. No idea where to start though.
