Sleeping all evening

I don't know why but over the past month or two I've started falling asleep around six or seven pm and waking around midnight/ one to get ready for bed, then sleeping again till morning. I can't think of any particular reason for this, I've had relatively recent blood tests and any deficiency has been addressed. I shouldn't have diabetes, either, as that was ruled out but I guess I could recheck (I'm not eating any heavy meals or anything). I do exercise a lot but that is not new at all. Has anyone else had this and found out the cause?

I struggled in peri, particularly after exercising.

@DustyLee123 That must have been tough! Thanks for the heads up, I wouldn't have thought of that at all but it's the right age. I don't know how long I can carry on like this because I've hardly done any household stuff in weeks, only when I'm free in the daytime!

I used to go for a hard ride before the kids got up, or do an hour exercise class, then carry on with my day. I can’t do that any more, if I exercise early I’ve had it for the day !

Oh wow, no-one warns you about this! I was mainly focused on the vaginal dryness aspect tbh 🤣

Is this why I hardly ever see women in their 50s/60s cycling? And if I do it is always on an ebike 🤔

@DustyLee123 How do you manage exercise now then? Do you take HRT?
Sorry to hijack your thread @madeinmanc but I exercise a lot and have been feeling exhausted lately and I’m round about that age too.

DustyLee123 · 29/09/2023 08:18

I find vit B complex, and D3 with K2 has helped. Good quality omega 3 for the joint pains. And I exercise In the evening now, or if I go out for a ride in the morning I make sure I’ve not got too much to do that day.
I have gone on HRT now, but that was for lack of motivation, not the exercise.

Cheeesus · 29/09/2023 08:20

So you’re sleeping for 12 hours a night? I don’t think that’s something you need to just put down to peri.

madeinmanc · 29/09/2023 08:39

Yes, 11 or 12 hours which is really weird for me as normally when I exercise a lot my sleep needs go down, e.g. bed at 12 midnight, up at five forty five - six ish.

House is a wreck, piles of laundry everywhere. Good job I haven't got children because it wouldn't be sustainable.

It could be peri or even full blown menopause though, my last period was only a day in terms of actual bleeding.

I did that until my ds said 'mum, why are you SO tired.?' and alarm bells started to ring.

My routine mammogram appt came through that week, and it came back positive. That was 2 years ago, all ok now It's probably something else but GET IT CHECKED!

Littlemissalone · 29/09/2023 20:22

I've been like this for ten years, I'm 28 now. I sleep about 12 hours a day. I'm exhausted. Don't have kids. Had bloods checked. Take vitamins. Never found an answer. :(

I would speak to your doctor, but I have really noticed how knackered I am, now I am nearly 50. I get up at 5.30 every morning and whereas I have always managed to keep pinging off the walls until late, I now find that after a 5.30 start and a full day of teaching, followed by dog walking and looking after the horses, I fall asleep as soon as I sit down in the evening. It's seriously annoying, as it uses up all my wine-drinking time!
