Hi,
I have a slightly odd situation that I need some advice on.
I have a semi-detached house and there is a study on the first floor, on the corner of the house. There is a desk against one of the exterior walls (but not touching it).
Recently something odd has been happening. About once a day - at different times of day - there is a bang, seeming to come from behind the desk. It’s almost as if something has been thrown at the wall. Things on the desk actually shake noticeably when this happens. The desk isn’t actually touching the wall, so the movement could be coming from the floor, but it does sound like it’s coming from the area behind the desk.
We’ve looked at the outside wall / no evidence of anything hitting it or being thrown against it. No damage/cracks. In any case it’s behind a locked gate and there’s no space to throw something with the force required to make the noise, I don’t think.
I’ve also checked the loft above - can’t see anything different.
Might there be a structural reason for this? Even though there are no cracks in the wall or ceiling? I don’t know if it’s something to be worried about?
