Lingering smell in reusable pads

CityLuna · 27/09/2023 21:45

Ive reusable bamboo pads which i love. Unfortunately, they seem to have developed a lingering smell, which i can smell when i use one’s freshly washed in the washing machine.
How can i get rid of the smell? They’re not cheap and look brand new but i’ve had them for a over a year now.

Any success stories?

Can they be soaked in napisan ?

Oxy, or the other places that do that pink powder , soak a wash (in a bag so they don’t get stuck in the filter). Dry outside

I’ve been using reusable pads for years and some of mine are ancient. Don’t store in water before washing and do rinse them out in cold water until the water runs clear.

White vinegar is a great odour remover.

i don’t know actually but i’m willing to try!

Thank you all for the suggestions. All very helpful.
I’ve some vinegar so will try that in the first instance.

@Autumn1990, that’s probably where i’m going wrong. I rinse them in the shower before washing but obvs the water isn’t cold.

Wash them on warm with bio powder +/- vanish.

Mine all say to wash at 40, but the occasional 60 wash is helpful to keep them fresh

Google washing cloth nappies. There's a method for them that will work for your reusable sanitary wear. Something about the cleaning products we use not getting things actually clean.

I second vinegar (I stick it in the fabric softener section). They might smell a bit vinegary when they come out of the machine but that disappears as they dry.
