Pukka or Fray Bentos ?

I'm a big fan of Pukka pies, especially the Chicken Balti and Cheese, Leek and Potato varieties. Admittedly, I've never had a Fray Bentos so I've no idea what they're like.

I ate one as a student 30 years ago, it was fine, back then I also ate corned beef and even ye olde oak ham out of a tin- enough said!
I wouldn’t rush to buy one as an adult when I could buy or make a fresh pie.

@ThatsMeTold you've reminded me about bacon grill in the tin and Goblin pudding's.

I hope Pukka pies at least are superior to bacon grill and Goblin stuff. And Foresight Pease Pudding.

I like both, they are different to each other. I particularly liked the chicken curry fray bentos I had once.

I like Fray Bentos a lot, if someone cooked one I wouldn't say no to a bit, but I wouldn't put it in the same category as "pies that don't come in a tin". Pukka will always have better quality pastry in their base because they're not cooked in a slightly inefficient tin.

At first glance I thought this was a baby name thread 😂

This evening, I've seen a new (to me, anyway) pie from Pukka. Chicken and chorizo. It's on my list for tomorrow.
