Can't remember which beach it is (south west and possibly Compton beach?) But at the right time of day you can see fossilised dinosaur footprints. Absolutely fantastic and quite a lovely walk down the beach so take a picnic and make a day of it. Still excites the adults in the group but the kids love it. Needles is good but the top is very touristy and the chair lift is a bit eek with small wriggly people but you can walk up and down if you don't want to go on it.

Mottistone Park/House is also lovely for a more sedate trip out. Although the gardens may have peaked by now.

Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with IoW with tiddlers or adults. Plenty to do.

Robin Hill for letting off steam, and they usually do a light show as the afternoons get darker.
Blackgang Chine
Apply beach
At Sandown there's a good crazy golf near the Dinosaur Museum (and the Bandstand for lunch - not cheap though yummy)
Monkey Haven

The miniature village in Godshill. The village itself has lovely tea rooms and gardens so it's a good half day with younger kids. You could also incorporate a short walk up to the church.
Ventnor Beach is sheltered and good for young ones. Harry's Tea Room (overlooking the beach) is fantastic and there is a pub at the end of the beach with a pirate theme which does decent food (and kid-friendly menu).

I second Tapnell Farm. There is plenty that's indoors if it rains. My 5 and 2 year olds loved it. We also did Dino Isle and the butterfly park.

I loved the Isle of Wight donkey sanctuary.
It's free to get in but they appreciate donations. There's a cafe and shop on site too.
