Carpet Cock Ups

We are looking to replace carper upstairs and on the landing.
The old one was high pile and quickly started to look worn in.

This one I will be looking for something better wearing rather than soft and fluffy.

Do you have any regrets with your carpet choices, it would be useful to consider any other ways it can go wrong again? Thank you.

It's not the height of the pile that does it, it's the density. You can still have thick carpet but it needs to be tightly packed, the more you can move it, the more it'll mash down. Also get underlay at least as thick as the carpet pile. Gives it somewhere to compress to and makes it last longer.

If a carpet extends into a doorway, then make sure you measure to that rather than the wall.
