Based North East/North Yorkshire.

Love my parents to bits 🥰 but what do I do to celebrate with the grumpy pair? 😂

You can get a message from the King for a diamond anniversary. We got one, framed with a photo, for DHs parents and they were pleased as punch with it. Just Google it.

Get the whole family round their house for a buffet that you cater and clear up afterwards and everyone leaves before they get too tired.

Afternoon tea in a nearby hall with friends and print off some photos of them and their friends and family over the years as that provides a really good talking point.

Shamelessly cribbing someone else's idea here: a quiz based on the year(s) they were born and the year they were married.Top pop song, nearest guess of the price of a pint, book written that year, news stories etc.

The genius bit is that they are very likely to be better at it than you are. And thus smug and less grumpy.

Thanks, yes I've already ordered and confirmed.

Mmm, family fall out means...not much family, or rather two halves that can't be together!

They lived abroad, so no friends here to speak of.

( bloody hell, it's me that is ‘glass half empty 😂)

That sounds a fun idea.
