Help me to identify this film

So, it's quite modern, probably 2020s or late 20-teens. There's some kind of apocalypse happening, and they're all preparing to go and live in an underground bunker in perpetuity. I think not all of them can go in. It's quite funny in a wry sort of way, and right near the end there's a really funny scene where the door into the cliffside opening to the bunker is finally closed, and it's like a scene from Thunderbirds... you're expecting it to be really monumental, but it just drops down like a cardboard piece of set.

The main character (male) has been having a relationship with a woman and there's some sort of drama about her going in and him not, or vice versa. Some of them don't believe it's right to go in. They all watch 'the last sunrise together'.

Any ideas?

Not sure about Downsizing - isn't that about shrinking people? The movie described sounds like Silent Night, from 2021. The plot revolves around a group of friends who gather for a holiday dinner party, knowing that the world is about to end and they have to decide who will survive in the bunker. And it has a scene with a entrance to the bunker in the side of a hill.

It was Downsizing, @WomanInTheWall23

Fair enough. I'm a bit confused, because the IMDB description of Downsizing is "A social satire in which a man realizes he would have a better life if he were to shrink himself to five inches tall, allowing him to live in wealth and splendor." Maybe it's a different version. But clearly you know what film you were thinking of - just not sure how FionnulaTheCooler got it!!

Also very confused but 🤷‍♀️ glad you got it

It's definitely Downsizing as I have watched the movie. The whole second half of the film is about the end of the world.

It was the bit about the closing of the bunker being like the set of Thunderbirds. One of the few genuinely funny moments in a film that was mostly quite depressing.

I think @FionnulaTheCooler got it by being familiar with the film, rather than familiar with the IMDB description of the film. There's only one version.

I wasn’t familiar with either! I was just trying to help.

And if you believe IMDB (which it seems you don’t) there are many versions of a movie called Downsizing.

Anyway, you found what you’re looking for, so all good.
