Name changed. If you work out who I am please don’t say anything

I have a contact with someone from Nigeria who was initially trying to scam me. I have managed to convince him that I want to help and he has given me log ins to his scam accounts.
I want to get him caught but I need more evidence.

would the police be interested? I want this person actually caught not just his accounts deleted. He prays on the vulnerable

Try actionfraud

bemorebernard · 26/09/2023 16:57

If he's actually in Nigeria it's out of the uk laws powers and remit .

AgentK · 26/09/2023 16:58

Thanks. I think he is. How can I use this now to make sure he stops this
He wants me to ring a lady he’s scamming and pretend I’m from PayPal …

And my guess is by time it's passed through to African authorities he will have done one

I'd just block . You can't do anything . It's out of the uk.

AgentK · 26/09/2023 16:59

I want to get him back for the misery and loss caused somehow.
luckily I didn’t lose money but others have

You can't do,anything you can warn the potential victim but there is nothing legally the uk can do

Uk law is restricted to the uk. They could possibly pass it to colleagues in Nigeria but these people are professionals, they change their isps, their details , their accounts ,

KnickerlessParsons · 26/09/2023 17:01

Surely the U.K. police would pass on to the Nigerian police.

Throwawayme · 26/09/2023 17:02

I'd call the woman but tell her the truth and that she is being targeted

They can yes. It how long do,you think that takes in reality , by which time isp, details and accounts will be gone

bemorebernard · 26/09/2023 17:06

So uk passes it to Nigeria, or interpol

It has to filter through to the correct county, agency , and is this a priority for that agency

These scammers don't keep the same details for more than a couple of days.

You can try but by the time it's got to the right people the scammer is long gone , onto a new isp, the bank account could be anywhere worldwide.

bemorebernard · 26/09/2023 17:09

You can't scam a scammer you could warn the potential victim . Or ask police to do so .

Once they realise your bo good for money they'll move on. Why bother
