Sapphire and Steel❤absolutely one of the best SciFi series of my youth. He was amazing. Seemed like a lovely bloke, RIP.

Ah, poor Ducky!

timoteigirl · 26/09/2023 12:37

Yes completely agree. Now only two actors still alive from The Great Escape.

pyjamalife · 26/09/2023 12:38

I only knew him from NCIS but gutted no more Ducky popping up in the show!
He did seem like a lovely man! RIP!

Nochoiceleft · 26/09/2023 12:47

Nooo 😞

OccultGnuNew · 26/09/2023 12:55

One of my early crushes, Ilya Kuryakin in the Man From U.N.C.L.E

nothingevergoesright · 26/09/2023 13:00

@OccultGnuNew same here, except it was him in The Invisible Man.

Ah, poor Ducky!

Our response too - my little duck egg blue Mini is named Ducky in his honour

StarbucksSmarterSister · 26/09/2023 13:18

I remember the angst as a child when staying with my aunt and I wasn't allowed to stay up to watch The Man from Uncle! He made a lot of good stuff, some of which hasn't even been mentioned in the news report.

Giggorata · 26/09/2023 13:21

DH sent me the news clip, knowing about my Illya crush 😢

PerkingFaintly · 26/09/2023 13:56

Also very fine performance in a film called Mosquito Squadron.

RIP splendid actor and icon of my yoof.

Mochudubh · 26/09/2023 13:57

ITN.'s tribute was much better than BBC's which didn't even mention Sapphire and Steel.

Anyone else remember him as Alan Breck Stewart in the TV version of Kidnapped in the 70's?

shadypines · 27/09/2023 12:44

Ooh that sounds good @Mochudubh. Even though he had a baby face he was so versatile in his roles.

Man from Uncle. Grew up with it.

RIP lovely David.

JaneJeffer · 27/09/2023 13:04

I always think of him as The Invisible Man (70's chid).

May he rest in peace.

goingtohellinahandcart · 27/09/2023 13:16

One of my first crushes too

AmyDudley · 27/09/2023 14:03

I was sad to hear he had died, Ilya Kuryakin was my first crush. I loved The Man from Uncle,
RIP David, great actor and gentleman.

themez · 27/09/2023 14:50

Yes sapphire and steel was one of the best things I ever saw. I've got them all on dvd.

FrenchandSaunders · 27/09/2023 14:51

How sad.
Oh I'd forgotten about Sapphire and Steel ... a girl from my class at school was in that. We were all so impressed.
