DH has what i like to call our 'counter ornament' this great big fandangled all singing and dancing coffee machine that he NEVER uses.

I want to replace it with an automatic filter machine, so theres a pot ready to go when he gets up, nice and easy.

Budget is up to £150, hit me with your recommendations!

I've a basic Russell Hobbs one which was around £25 that suits the job perfectly. Use a smart plug, set it up the night before then coffee is ready for when you get up.

We actually have one of these electric Moka pots and it is fab, so quick and easy to clean and use. During the week we use it for Americano and at the weekend we pair it with our induction milk frother/heater to make cappuccino. We've had it for 6 years and used it daily and it's still going strong. We did loads of research into coffee markers at the time and decided this would best suit our needs.

Unfortunately above your price point, but depending on if can spare the extra £50 I’m a big fan of Sage, so would choose the Precision Brewer.

James Hoffmann has a video comparing coffee brewers, and while some are above your budget, it might be worth checking out to see what’s on the market, and what features you might want to look for and which you are less interested in.

I like the Melitta ones. We had the AromaElegance® Therm DeLuxe Filter Coffee Machine | Melitta® for several years. Thermal pot so it keeps coffee hot for ages without a hot plate. Timer setting so you can set it to come on to be ready when you get up. Downside is you can't put the pot in the dishwasher and the narrow opening of the jug makes it hard to clean. It uses filter papers but I prefer that to reusable filter. Recently upgraded to their version which can also use whole beans. It's a bit more expensive though.

Thanks all, ill have a look. The research involved in what i thought was so simple appears otherwise. I did find a CUISINART one that looked promising but all the reviews said it was a royal pain in the arse to clean

We have an electric bean grinder and a metal cafetière which we have loved. Might be a bit too basic for what you are after, but both probably came to about £120.
