Frequent diarrhoea

I have had frequent diarrhoea for possibly the last 6 weeks on and off. I have noticed I need to get up early as woken by the need to go, but not every day. But I probably do in hindsight suffer from 1, sometimes 2 episodes of it a day. No other symptoms at all. I suppose it’s only rattling me slightly as my mum had bowel cancer the year before last, now thankfully fully recovered. If it wasn’t for this I wouldn’t be over thinking. Would it be OTT to ring the GP to discuss?

Are you eating lots of fruit/veg ? I find that I get urgency if I increase my intake.
Is it linked to your periods ? Is it linked to anxiety ?
If not, I think a chat would be a good idea.

I think a change in bowel habits (especially if you don't know the cause) is a reason to contact your GP. Better to get it checked out...

Any change in bowel habits should be checked out. It is not OTT

If you can’t think of any reason for it starting then yes, have a chat with your GP. You can do one of the fecal occult blood tests to put your mind at rest. All the best x

Thank you for your replies, I had a telephone consultation and it’s probably just a virus or a bit of anxiety causing it but they have said to do a FIT test due to family history but definitely doesn’t seem like anything to worry about hopefully.
