Is it worth getting to the lounge early for breakfast? Heathrow Terminal 5.

Long haul, so you'll need to be there reasonably early anyway, so you can grab something in the lounge. Its buffet style and not that thrilling, but better to be sat in a lounge waiting.

Yes , get there early and get what you’ve paid for

You’ll need to get to the airport three hours before the flight anyway. So why wouldn’t you have breakfast in the lounge? And a cheeky glass of champagne?

On a long haul flight you will probably be given a snack (some nuts) and a cold drink (most people go for the offered champagne, whatever time of day it is!) on boarding, then breakfast will be served about an hour after take off. Although departure time is 9am, you’ll then spend about 20 minutes taxiing and queuing for take off. So realistic breakfast-on-plane time is about 10.15-10.30am. If you want to eat before then, get to the airport early. If you don’t think you’ll want/need to eat before then, get there with less time. You can check in online and at Heathrow as long as you are through security with 45mins to go you should get on the flight. However, queues for security (even Fasttrack) can be longer at that time of day. My comfort zone minimum time at airport as a passenger is 90mins, no matter what flight I am getting.

Yes - the breakfast in the lounge is buffet and pretty substantial. It's much nicer than the food on the plane. Even in business class.

You will likely have fast track to get you through security fast as well.

The breakfast in the BA lounge is decent enough so worth the extra time IMO. Plane breakfast generally isn’t great even in business. We usually go to the satellite lounges as tend to be quieter.
